Oklahoma City Thunder versus LA Clippers NBA Pro Basketball Betting Preview

Monday, January 30th, 2012

NBA TV has an outstanding late night matchup from pro basketball as the red hot Oklahoma City Thunder invades Staple Center to face Chris Paul and the LA Clippers.

The Thunder and Clippers will begin from Los Angeles as 10:30PM Eastern Time.

Bet the Clippers and Thunder at Oddsmaker sportsbook, where new players earn a 100% match up bonus up to $1000. Open an account today and get in on the excitement of NBA betting.

The current odds at Oddsmaker has the road team Oklahoma City favored by -2 ½ points with an over under of 198 ½ points.

A money line wager on the Thunder will return you -130 odds.

If you think the Clippers can beat the Thunder you money line return is +110 odds.

These two Western conference teams will battle for the first time this season.

The Thunder is the more rested team having disposed of the Golden St Warriors on Friday night 120-109 as a -4 ½ point road favorite.

The Clippers were in a tough battle playing in altitude last night at Denver where they came away with the come from behind 109-105 win as a +5 ½ point road underdog.

The Thunder creates a match up problem for the Clippers as Kevin Durant is a very good outside shooter who hits threes.

LA is amongst the worst in the NBA in defending the three as opponents hit on a 37.5% mark against them. Guards Mo Williams and Chris Paul lack size and length so opposing guards can get their shot over them.

This will force a big man to move out from the paint to guard Durant which leaves the basket open for Russell Westbrook to penetrate.

The Clippers are thin down low and if they get in foul trouble specifically with Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan they could in for a long night.

The question for the Clippers is can the 35 year old veteran Chauncey Billups deliver offense in a back to back after playing the previous night in high altitude.

He scored 32 points and made 6 of 12 from beyond the arc on Sunday.

One of the biggest advantages for the Thunder here is the point difference that should be in their favor at the free throw line.

The Clippers are the 29th worst NBA team at the line hitting just 66.2% of their free throws. Oklahoma City is the league’s best free throw shooting team making 80.9% season to date.

San Antonio Spurs versus Dallas Mavericks NBA Pro Basketball Betting Preview

Sunday, January 29th, 2012

The San Antonio Spurs will play the Dallas Mavericks in a nationally televised NBA pro basketball game scheduled for Sunday night.

The 12-8 Spurs and 12-8 Mavericks will face off in Dallas night on ESPN television with a start time of 6:30PM Eastern Time.

Bet the Spurs and Mavericks at Oddsmaker sportsbook, where new players earn a 100% match bonus dollar per dollar up to $1000 when you open and fund a new account.

The betting line at Oddsmaker has the Dallas Mavericks set as -5 point home favorites with the over under in the game lined at 187 ½ points.

A money line bet play on Dallas returns -210 odds to bettors.

Those who think the underdog Spurs can win outright can get back +175 odds for their money line wager.

The teams have one meeting thus far in this condensed 2011-12 NBA campaign with the Spurs blowing out the Mavericks by 22 points in a 93-71 victory back on January 5th.

The game fell well under the closing total of 189 points.

Dallas brought nothing to this game as the team had just 42 points scored through the first three quarters of the game and missed 18 of their 19 three point attempts.

San Antonio has plenty of youth surrounding their core group of superstars on their club.

And with many young players defense on the road at times will be lacking.

The Spurs give up 102 points and an atrocious 50% shooting with 41.8% from the three point line in their nine road games this year.

San Antonio has dropped 7 of 9 on the highway this season.

The communication defensively lacks on the Spurs squad as the team is filled with newcomers.

After a rough beginning to the season the Mavericks has played better basketball in recent weeks.

The team has won four of their past five games.

Newcomer Lamar Odom has not adapted well to his new teammates as he is in search of his game in Dallas.

Dirk Nowitzki had missed the teams prior four games as he tries to condition a sore knee. He will be a game time decision tonight.

San Antonio is trending fairly well in head to head meetings as the Spurs have won and covered the point spread in their past four games with Dallas.

From a totals perspective the under has come in three straight times and 8 of the past 10 times in meetings between the Spurs and Mavericks.

LA Lakers versus Milwaukee Bucks NBA Pro Basketball Betting Preview

Saturday, January 28th, 2012

Kobe Bryant and the LA Lakers will begin a short two game road trip with an NBA game against the hard luck Milwaukee Bucks tonight.

The Lakers and Bucks will tip it off from Milwaukee Saturday night at 8:30PM Eastern Time and you can watch this NBA pro basketball game live over the NBA League Pass television.

Bet the 11-8 Lakers and 7-11 Bucks at Oddsmaker sportsbook, where new players earn a welcome bonus up to $1000 as they match you dollar per dollar on your initial deposit 100%!

The current odds posted at Oddsmaker have the LA Lakers road favorites of -5 points with the total in the game lined at 185 points.

A money line wager on the LA Lakers will return you -220 odds.

A bettor who bets the home underdog Milwaukee Bucks to pull off the upset win can take back +180 odds for their wager.

The Lakers enter Milwaukee as prohibited favorites but the team has not been good at all on the road this season with just a 1-6 record straight up.

Their lone road win came at Utah back on January 11th but they needed overtime and won by only three points.

The LA Lakers do catch a break here as they enter Milwaukee with two days of full rest and the Bucks traveled late night as they played at Chicago on Friday.

We mentioned the Bucks being a hard luck team as their big man Andrew Bogut has once again been bit by the injury bug.

Bogut will miss up to three months with a broken ankle suffered back on January 25th. That’s about all of the regular season and if he returns it would be in the playoffs if Milwaukee can qualify.

That opens up the middle of the floor for the Lakers big men in Pau Gasol and Andrew Bynum.

Gasol had slept walk through much of the season getting few touches and not working hard for position offensively under the basket.

The Lakers coaching staff put a wake up into Gasol preceding the Clippers game and the big man responded with a bullying effort where he posted 23 points and 10 rebounds as he made 9 of his 13 shots in the 96-91 win on Wednesday night.

The Clippers were an easy target for Gasol to bully as they lack a lot of depth in the middle and it did not look good for the Lakers big man to go after a much smaller Chris Paul.

Milwaukee will need to create a fast pace utilizing Shaun Livingston, Brandon Jennings and Carlos Delfino against the Lakers lack of quality in the guard position behind Kobe Bryant.

The trend with Milwaukee is to suffer defensively without Bogut in the lineup.

We have seen an over the total last night in the team’s first game without Bogut.

Milwaukee may play faster without their center in the lineup.

Chicago Bulls versus Miami Heat NBA Pro Basketball Betting Preview

Friday, January 27th, 2012

The NBA will return to ABC Television on Sunday as Derrick Rose and the Chicago Bulls pay a visit to South Beach to battle Lebron James and his Miami Heat.

The Heat and Bulls will tip off this NBA pro basketball game from Miami at 3:30PM Eastern Time.

Bet the NBA at Oddsmaker sportsbook, where players earn a 20% reload bonus on Tuesday’s and Thursday’s.

This will be the first meeting between Chicago and Miami since the clubs met in the Eastern Conference Finals last season where the Heat won in five games.

The Bulls opened their best of 7 series with a 21 point home win and point spread cover against the Heat and then proceeded to lose and fail to cover the point spread in the next four games in a row.

The game on Sunday will begin a long nine game road trip for the Chicago Bulls.

Heading into Friday’s action the Bulls are the best scoring defense in the NBA as they allow just 86 points per game on the year.

Derrick Rose has returned to the lineup after being hampered by a turf toe in recent games.

Rose is putting up 21 points and over 8 assists per game.

Chicago’s second leading scorer Luol Deng will not be available on Sunday. Deng tore a ligament in his left hand and is sitting out the next weeks. Luol Deng was contributing nearly 16 points per game for the Bulls.

Offseason acquisition and former Detroit Piston Richard Hamilton is averaging nearly 15 points a game as the Bulls shooting guards in their rotation.

The Miami Heat has been playing without the services of Dwyane Wade. He has missed seven games with a sprained ankle.

The Heat has implemented a more up tempo style. The thinking here is to take advantage of the teams athletic ability fully by increasing the number of possessions per game.

Miami sits number two in the league in scoring with 104 points a game and is the top shooting team in the league heading into Friday’s action with a team 48.8% shooting percentage.

Lebron James leads the Heat in scoring with 29 points a game and he is dishing over 7 assists per game.

Chris Bosh took a lot of criticism over his play last year.

Bosh has been a man possessed on the court this season as he is making 54.7% of his shots and scoring nearly 22 points a game. He is pulling nearly 8 boards a game for Miami.

This young Longhorns team has struggled mightily on the road with three Big 12 road losses in a row this season.

The Bears broke a two game losing streak on Wednesday with an impressive 77-65 road win against a vastly improved Oklahoma team.

Baylor had a strong 15-5 run in the game’s final five minutes to earn the win.

It will be a PAC 12 conference showdown at 7PM Eastern Time as ESPN provides the television coverage between the Washington Huskies at Arizona Wildcats.

Heading into Thursday’s action the Huskies held a one game lead in the PAC 12 standings over the Wildcats.

The Huskies three guard trio of Tony Wroten, C.J. Wilcox and Terrence Ross combine for 48 of the teams 78 points a game.

Arizona has had two tough losses in recent games with a one point defeat at Colorado and by a bucket at home to Oregon in their past four games.

The Wildcats are looking for a clutch go to guy since losing first round draft pick Derrick Williams to the NBA.

Arizona will be challenged here to match the offensive output by Washington.

The 10th ranked Georgetown Hoyas travel to Pittsburgh at 4PM Eastern Time on ESPN TV.

The Panthers finally broke that horrific 8 game losing streak with an 86-74 home win to Providence on Wednesday night.

This is a team that had been struggling shooting the basketball but they exploded for 49.2% shooting and 11 of 20 from three in the win.

Georgetown is 16-3 on the campaign this season and has rolled up three straight wins since dropping consecutive games in Big East play to Cincinnati and West Virginia.

The three straight wins all came to weak opponents though in Rutgers by a bucket at home and road wins against DePaul and St John’s.

The Hoyas strength is their defense has they hold teams to just 39.3% shooting and 59 points a game.

Pittsburgh will need to make tough shots here and expect a low scoring output from both teams in this one.

NBA Pro Basketball Sports Betting Match Up Previews for Friday

Thursday, January 26th, 2012

It is another huge Friday card from the NBA as the headlining the action are the New York Knicks as they head into Miami to face Lebron James and the Heat.

The action tips off at 8PM Eastern Time and you can watch it on ESPN TV.

The Heat came in with a day of rest following a close call in Detroit where they nipped the Pistons 101-98 as a -8 ½ point favorite on Wednesday night.

It was the team’s fourth game in five nights and they allowed the Pistons 50% shooting which kept Detroit in it until the very end.

Lebron James and Chris Bosh combined for 59 of the Heats 101 points.

New York is smarting from a 91-81 road defeat at Cleveland as a -4 point favorite.

Carmelo Anthony has been off his game with an eight point per game average over his past two performances.

The Knicks have been a major disappointment this season. They are a bottom of the barrel shooting team hitting 41.9% from the floor this year ranking 26th in the league.

Is there a coaching or player shakeup coming in the Big Apple? Keep an eye out on developments because rumors of trades circulated in the media could spark the club.

Indiana and Boston tip off at 7:30PM Eastern Time.

The Pacers have been one of the most improved teams in basketball. They are coming off a five point win at Chicago on Wednesday.

This will be a tough scheduling spot for Boston as they play the back end of a back to back after facing Dwight Howard and the Magic Thursday night in Orlando.

San Antonio is hoping to better their play on defense as they travel to Minnesota at 8PM Eastern Time.

The Spurs have struggled on the defensive end of the court as they have surrounded their core of four veterans with a bunch of youngsters.

The Timberwolves continue to play good basketball as they pounded the Mavericks by 15 points on the road on Wednesday.

The nightcap on Friday night will feature Kevin Durant as the Oklahoma City Thunder as they invade the Bay Area to face the Golden St Warriors at 10:30PM Eastern Time.

The Thunder size could give the Warriors a bit of trouble in this one. OKC hits over 47% from the floor which is third best in the league.

Golden State’s David Lee is going to need a lot of help in the paint to keep this young Thunder team away from offensive and defensive rebounds.

Get in on the action from this 13 game NBA lineup on Friday and open an account at Oddsmaker sportsbook, where new players earn up to a $1000 match bonus for opening and funding a new account.

LA Clippers versus LA Lakers NBA Pro Basketball Betting Preview

Wednesday, January 25th, 2012

The Battle of LA II will be televised by NBA TV tonight when the LA Clippers face the LA Lakers from Staples Center.

The Clippers and Lakers will begin at 10:30PM Eastern Time on Wednesday night. The Lakers are the designated home team tonight.

The sportsbook to bet the Clippers and Lakers is Oddsmaker, where new players earn a 100% match bonus up to $1000! Open and fund your account today and get in on the action.

The 10-8 LA Lakers are favored at Oddsmaker by -3 ½ points with the over under lined at 186 ½ points.

A money line wager on the favorite will return -165 odds for an LA Lakers win.

Those who bet the 9-5 Clippers on the money will take back +145 odds for the underdog upset straight up victory.

This will only be the Clippers fifth road game of the season where the team stands at 1-3 with their only win coming in game 1 of the season at Golden St. So they are on a three game road losing streak.

Clippers point guard Chris Paul is expected back in the lineup tonight as he has been practicing with the club and is reported in good health.

Paul had missed the team’s previous five games with a hamstring problem.

The LA Clippers weakness this season is defending the three point line where teams have been able to convert at a rate of 37.3% against them.

Problem for the LA Lakers is there are very poor from beyond the arc ranking 30th in the league at 25.6% accuracy.

A big issue is the lack of quality depth at the point guard position for the Lakers. Steve Blake remains sidelined throughout the month of January with a rib ailment.

The Lakers continue their offensive struggles this season with merely a 92 point per game ranking which is in the bottom third of the NBA.

The team’s offseason moves have not worked out as Troy Murphy, Jason Kapono and Josh McRoberts have added very little offensive punch to the Lakers lineup.

With Shannon Brown and Lamar Odom gone the team has digressed.

Pau Gasol continues to see his numbers shrink once Andrew Bynum returned from suspension. Gasol seems less passionate on the offensive end and not working as hard for position underneath the basket.

The Lakers are sitting on a three game losing streak following the team’s 98-96 home loss to Indiana on Sunday night.

Fatigue won’t be an issue tonight as each team last played on Sunday.

The LA Clips won the first meeting 102-94 back on January 14th as a -2 ½ point home favorite.

The Clippers are trending big time tonight.

The Lakers are 0-6 ATS in their past six games. The Clips have covered the point spread in 8 of their past 10 meetings with the Lakers.

New York Giants versus New England Patriots NFL Pro Football Super Bowl Betting Preview

Wednesday, January 25th, 2012

The Super Bowl will feature a rematch from four years ago as Eli Manning and the New York Giants will face Tom Brady and the New England Patriots.

The 12-7 Giants and 15-3 Patriots will tee it up in NFL Super Bowl XLVI from Lucas Oil Field in Indianapolis Indiana at 6:30PM Eastern Time on Sunday February 5th and its NBC who provides the national television broadcast.

Bet the Super Bowl at Oddsmaker sportbook, as new players earn a 100% match up bonus up to $1000 when you open a new account.

This NFL pro football game is currently lined at Oddsmaker with the New England Patriots favored by -3 points with an over under of 55 ½ points.

A money line bet on the favored New England Patriots will return -135 odds.

Those who believe the Giants can win Super Bowl 46 outright can take back +115 odds with a money line bet.

The Giants defense has really led the teams charge down the stretch during the teams five game winning streak.

They will face a test defending the Patriots tight end tandem of Aaron Hernandez and Rob Gronkowski.

In their first meeting they held the duo to a combined 12 catches for 136 yards and two touchdowns passes.

New York held the Patriots to their lowest point total at home this season with 20 points in their November 6th meeting where the Giants won 24-20 as a +9 point underdog.

It sure looks like that November 6th game went along way into the Giants success defending opposing tight ends this year.

Following the Patriots game they faced Green Bay’s JerMichael Finley twice, Atlanta’s Tony Gonzalez in the Wildcard playoff and had two regular season meetings with Dallas tight end Jason Witten and in those five games gave up just one touchdown reception to those big three.

So the Giants are familiar with this type of challenge.

This Super Bowl is huge in determining the legacy of Tom Brady.

Two straight Super Bowl losses may tarnish the image a bit when historians start to rate the best ever quarterbacks.

Tom Brady is coming off a bad performance in the AFC title game with no touchdown passes and two interceptions.

He failed to move the chains in the teams late fourth quarter drive and had to turn the job of preserving victory over to the defense.

Since the Giants have had success against opposing tight ends the Patriots are going to need huge performances from Danny Woodhead out of the backfield in the passing game along with wide outs Deion Branch and Wes Welker.

Cleveland Cavaliers versus Miami Heat NBA Pro Basketball Betting Preview

Tuesday, January 24th, 2012

An improving Cleveland Cavaliers will play an angry Miami Heat team from NBA pro basketball action on Tuesday night.

The Cavaliers and Heat will tip off from South Beach at 7:30PM Eastern Time and you can watch this NBA game nationally live on the NBA League Pass.

A money line wager on the Miami Heat will return –1500 odds.

Bettors who believe the Cavaliers can pull off the upset win at Miami can bring back +950 odds for their money line bet.

After their long seven game road trip concluded at mid-month the Cleveland Cavaliers were feeling pretty good with themselves with a record of 6-6.

But what have followed have been three straight losses to drop the team to three games under .500.

The team has shown improvement on the court this season than the disastrous year in the 2010-11 campaign.

Rookie Kyrie Irving the first player taken in the 2011 draft has led the Cavaliers with 17.4 points per average in about 28 minutes of play per game.

What has been most impressive from Irving is his shooting as he makes 50% from the field and 42.5% from the three point line. He is also dishing five assists per game.

Miami will play the final game of their current five game home stand as they entertain Cleveland.

The team overcame their three game losing streak with three straight homes wins against San Antonio, LA Lakers and Philadelphia.

They fell flat in their home defeat on Sunday to the Milwaukee Bucks by the score of 91-82 as a -9 point favorite.

It was the Heats third game in four nights as the club could only hit on 37% of their shots. What was more troubling was the team’s 22 turnovers.

Miami will once again be without Dwyane Wade as he is troubled with a sprained ankle. It will be his fifth consecutive game out of the lineup.

Lebron James is leading Miami this season with nearly a 30 point per game average. James is playing very well with a 56.4% shooting percentage and 45% from beyond the arc.

Cleveland is trending to over the total with five straight overs in their past five games. Miami is still trending very well to overs with at least one day of rest between games.

Orlando Magic versus Boston Celtics NBA Pro Basketball Betting Preview

Monday, January 23rd, 2012

NBA TV will televise Monday’s NBA pro basketball game between Dwight Howard and his rested Orlando Magic against the Boston Celtics who are coming into the game on a back to back.

The 11-4 Magic and 6-9 Celtics will begin from Boston at 7:30PM Eastern Time on Monday night.

The sportsbook to bet the NBA is at Oddsmaker, as existing players earn a 20% reload bonus on Tuesday’s and Thursday’s.

The current point spread at Oddsmaker reveals the road team Orlando Magic favored by –4 points and the total in the game posted at 178 points.

Players who wager on the Orlando Magic on the money line will see a return of –190 odds.

If you think that Boston can win straight up and you have the Celtics on the money line you will get back +160 odds for your wager.

At first glance you may be struck with such a high number for the Magic to be favored in this game on the road.

Take note that the Celtics are in a back to back situation having played at Washington on Sunday while Orlando last played way back on Friday night when they blew out the Lakers.

The Magic have been road warriors of late as they swept all four games on a recent trip that included three games on the west coast.

They have won six of their past seven games with a forgivable home loss to San Antonio by two points in overtime.

Orlando was playing the back end of a back to back and it was there third game in four nights.

The Magic are well rested tonight.

Dwight Howard has been a monster in his last two games. The soon to be free agent star averaged 22 ½ points and pulled down 25 rebounds against the Spurs and 23 against the Lakers.

Boston has had a difficult time dealing with this condensed schedule.

They have a roster of stars up there in age with skills in decline.

They beat a bad Washington team on Sunday 100-94 but heading into that game the Celtics had dropped six of their past seven with five of those losses coming on their home court.

Boston has significant injury concerns as Rajon Rondo has missed the clubs past two games with a wrist injury and is listed as questionable tonight.

Ray Allen suffered an ankle injury yesterday that forced him to leave the game. Allen too is questionable for the Magic game.
