At press time the pointspread for game three is lined at a pick.

Game one went to the Miami Heat as the club responded well in the second half that led to a 93-79 home win as a -8 point favorite. The Heat outscored Boston by 14 points in the second half in victory. Miami shot 50% while Boston could only manage 39.5% from the floor in the loss.

Game two was an overtime affair that saw Miami prevail in end for a 115-111 home win as a -7 ½ point betting favorite. The game went over 178 ½ points. After building up a 15 point lead the Celtics lost control of the game in the third quarter but regroup in the closing minutes of the fourth quarter to force the overtime period. The Celtics return home after wasting a 49.4% shooting performance and a monster game from Rajon Rondo who produced 44 points and ten assists on 16 of 24 shooting. Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett combined for 39 points in the loss. The Celtics bench fell flat with just seven points in the game two defeat. This old Boston team must regroup for travel and a game on Friday night with just one day of rest. Dating back since their game seven win against Philadelphia the Boston Celtics play their fourth game in seven days.

Miami got 23 points from Wade and 34 points from James. The Heat got much needed production from the supporting cast. Mario Chalmers had 22 points along with six rebounds on 8 of 16 shooting. Udonis Haslem gave the Heat good energy from its bench with 13 points along with 11 rebounds. Miami was fortunate to get away with missing 16 of 47 free throw attempts.

Boston is trending very well at home as they have covered the spread in 8 of their past 9 meetings with Miami. Boston is 14-1 straight up in their past 15 home games against the Miami Heat.

San Antonio Spurs at Oklahoma City Thunder Game 3 NBA Pro Basketball Betting Preview

Wednesday, May 30th, 2012

The scene will move to Oklahoma City as the San Antonio Spurs and the Thunder will meet in game three of their Western Conference Finals series in a best of seven format on Thursday night. The Spurs and Thunder will tip off game three at 9PM Eastern Time and its TNT providing the live national television broadcast.

The game three odds at press time at Oddsmaker has the home team Oklahoma City Thunder the -3 point betting favorite.

San Antonio enters play with a 2-0 series lead in the Western conference finals. In game one the Spurs were backed by a ferocious fourth quarter run that saw the club outscore Oklahoma City 39-27 in the final period for a 101-98 victory. The Thunder was held to just 42.2% shooting in the loss while the Spurs shot nearly 46%. It was Manu Ginobili leading the San Antonio cause with 26 points on and aggressive 9 of 14 shooting from the floor as the lefty guard maneuvered his way through the Oklahoma City defense for solid looks around the bucket.

With Oklahoma City down 0-1 in the series they looked to even the score in game two on Tuesday night. But once again the Thunder was held to five percent below their playoff average from the field as San Antonio went up 2-0 following a 120-111 home win as a -4 ½ point betting favorite. Oklahoma City shot just 42% from the floor while the Spurs connected on an explosive 55.1% shooting in the win. Russell Westbrook suffered through a 10 of 24 night shooting the basketball for OKC. Derek Fisher corrected back to the norm with a 2 of 11 night shooting the basketball. It must have been a bad sign for OKC when Fisher had an outstanding shooting performance and still could not beat the Spurs in game one. It was unlikely for the inept guard to duplicate the effort from game one and gamblers who backed OKC in game two should be angry at themselves for missing that angle to play against the Thunder in game two. The Spurs have owned the Thunder. San Antonio has now won four straight against the OKC this season and is 9-1 straight up over their past ten meetings.

The current odds at Oddsmaker has the home team Miami Heat favored by -8 points with an over under of 179 ½ points. Those wagering on the Miami Heat on the money line will lay -460 odds. Those who believe the Boston Celtics can go into Miami and steal game one with an outright victory can get back +360 odds for their wager on the money line. The series prices are available for wagering and the Miami Heat are favored to win this best of seven series at -550 odds. Boston Celtics supporters can take back +450 odds for the underdog to win this NBA Eastern conference playoff series.

Boston will be in a bit of a disadvantage on Monday night in game one as the club was stretched into the seven game series by the Philadelphia 76ers. Boston prevailed 85-75 as a -6 point home favorite but now the Celtics must wheel back for game one at Miami and play a rested Heat team who disposed of Indiana in six games with the series clincher coming in a 105-93 road win as a -2 ½ point favorite on Thursday May 24th giving them three days of rest entering the Eastern Conference Finals.

After falling behind 2-1 in their series with Indiana the Heat responded fiercely with three straight wins and scoring over 100 points in each game with the margin of victory being by eight points or greater. Despite with no Chris Bosh in the lineup for Miami the Heat shot 47.5% or greater in the final three games of the Pacers series. Bosh is still dealing with an abdominal injury and will be sidelined in game one. Reports are that Bosh may not even make the court in the Eastern Conference Finals. Boston suffered a huge hit to their World title chances as guard Avery Bradley suffered a season ending shoulder injury in the 76ers series.

The current odds at Oddsmaker have the home team Atlanta Braves favored by -120 odds with the road team Washington Nationals the underdog at +110 odds. The over under is lined at 6 ½ runs. A run line wager on the Atlanta Braves and laying the -1 ½ runs will return +175 odds. Those on the side of the road club Washington Nationals on the run line and taking the +1 ½ runs head start will lay -210 odds.

Washington has won the first two games of this series and scored a combined 15 runs total on Braves pitching. A good pitching matchup is on tap tonight as Gio Gonzalez takes the hill for Washington and he will oppose Brandon Beachy for the Braves.

Gonzalez has put up some impressive numbers with a record of 6-1 with an ERA of 1.98 and WHIP of 0.99 and nine starts totaling over 54 innings. On the Braves side Brandon Beachy is 5-2 in nine starts with an ERA of 1.77 and WHIP of 0.90. The Braves hitters has given Beachy better run support to a tune of nearly 1 ½ runs more per game than the Nationals in support of Gonzalez.

The Braves are on tilt right now as the club prior to dropping two straight to Washington in this series were swept in all four games against the Cincinnati Reds. The hitting has failed the Braves during this skid as the club has averaged just 2.6 runs and a team batting average of .189 in their past seven ball games. The pitching staff has been beaten up by the NL East division as the Braves allow 5 ½ runs and a .288 batting average to rival lineups in 2012. Gonzalez faces the Braves for the first time. Beachy in his past two starts against the Nationals has given up 8 earned runs and twelve hits with five walks in 11 innings of work.

The current odds at Oddsmaker in game one has the home standing San Antonio Spurs favored by -5 ½ points with the over under lined at 205 points. A money line wager on the San Antonio Spurs will lay -250 odds. If you believe the road club Oklahoma City Thunder can steal game one with an outright win the return is +210 odds for a wager on the money line. The series odds are available to wager on at Oddsmaker and the San Antonio Spurs are -200 favorites to win the Western conference finals with the take back on the underdog Oklahoma City Thunder at +160 odds. San Antonio owns the home court advantage in this playoff series.

The teams faced off three times in head to head competition during the regular season. San Antonio won their only home game in this series in a 107-96 win as a -2 ½ point betting favorite. The teams split the two games played at Oklahoma City. Back on March 16th the Spurs earned the 114-105 road win at OKC as a +5 point road underdog. San Antonio has won two straight against the Thunder.

Oklahoma City qualified for the Western conference finals after defeating the LA Lakers in five games. OKC had a good defensive effort allowing LA only one game with a shooting percentage of better than 43.2%.

San Antonio has been red hot as the club has won 18 straight games. To qualify for the Western conference finals the Spurs swept both the Utah Jazz and LA Clippers in consecutive playoff series. San Antonio shot the ball extremely well against the LA Clippers as they hovered around 50% from the floor combined in games two, three and four. In their eight playoff games in 2012 the Spurs shot 46.1% or better in seven of the eight games.

A game seven is guaranteed to be played in the Boston Celtics and Philadelphia 76ers playoff series. Boston will be the home team and the current odds at Oddsmaker has the home club Celtics favored by -5 ½ points with the over under lined at 182 points. A money line play on the favored Boston Celtics will return -260 odds. Those who believe the Philadelphia 76ers can win a game seven at Boston will get rewarded with +220 odds for their wager on the money line. In a short turnaround in game six the Philadelphia 76ers were able to stymie the offensive production of the Celtics in a 82-75 home win as a -1 point favorite. The short turnaround hurt Boston as the 76ers were able to pull away from Boston with 49 second half points despite 33 first half points. Philadelphia had another good shooting night making 45.7% of their shots in the win which followed a 46.8% shooting performance in game five. The key here is the teams will have two days of rest between games and that happened prior to game five where the Celtics crushed the 76ers 101-85 as a -5 ½ point home favorite. Boston shot 52.2% from the floor in their home court blowout victory.

If a game seven is necessary in the Heat and Pacers series it will be Miami hosting the final and deciding contest. There is an asterisk next to game seven as it will only be played if the Indiana Pacers can win game six. Udonis Haslem who gives the Heat good rebounding presence underneath is eligible to return to the lineup after sitting out game six with a suspension.

ESPN and ABC will televise but check local listings as times were not available at press time. If Indiana is eliminated in game six then the Celtics and Philadelphia will tip off at 8PM Eastern Time over ABC. If Miami and Indiana go seven games ABC will televise at 8PM Eastern Time with Boston and Philadelphia an earlier start on ESPN.

A game six will be played on Friday night from the NHL Eastern conference Finals playoff series between the New York Rangers and New Jersey Devils. NBC Sports Network has the national television coverage at 8PM Eastern Time. There is no asterisk on game six as the Devils and Rangers were tied at 2-2 heading into their game five show down on Wednesday night. The teams split their two games in New Jersey. After a 3-0 win in game three by the Rangers at New Jersey the Devils bounced back with a 4-1 win in game four.

MLB Network has regional television converge with first pitched scheduled for 7PM Eastern Time.

Some of the nation will receive an American League battle as the Tampa Bay Rays and Boston Red Sox open up a weekend series on Friday night. The Rays and Red Sox will begin from Boston at 7PM Eastern Time. Tampa Bay will throw Alex Cobb on Friday as he will oppose left hander Jon Lester for the Red Sox. Cobb will be making just his second appearance of the year on Friday. He appeared on Saturday and earned a win giving up just two earned runs in seven innings against Atlanta. Cobb was 3-2 in nine starts with an ERA of 3.42 in 2011 for the Rays. Lester is on a two game win streak allowing five earned runs combined in 15 innings pitched against the Phillies and Mariners.

Others will get a National League affair as the Colorado Rockies travel to face the Cincinnati Reds as these two clubs open up a series. They begin at Cincinnati at 7PM Eastern Time. The Rockies will throw Christian Friedrich as he will face Johnny Cueto for the Reds. Friedrich in four appearances this season is 1-1 with an ERA of 5.00. He got bombed last time out allowing 8 earned runs in five innings in a loss to Seattle on Saturday. Cueto is having an outstanding season as the hard throwing right hander is 5-1 with an ERA of 1.97 in nine starts.

Sports Betting Matchup Previews for Thursday

The NBA and NHL playoffs are heating up and Thursday’s sports betting card is full of excitement for betting enthusiasts to watch and wager on.

The action tips off at 8PM Eastern Time over TNT as a critical game six will be played in the Miami Heat and Indiana Pacers series. One team will face elimination here as the series was tied at 2-2 heading into Tuesday. The Heat were able to find answers in game four in their quest to advance to the Eastern Conference finals without the services of Chris Bosh. Problem is it took a 40 point game from Lebron James and 30 points from Dwyane Wade to achieve a 101-93 road win in game four. Hard to believe the dynamic duo can keep up this scoring pace. At some point someone else will need to step up for Miami.

From the NHL Western conference finals we put as asterisk to game six as it will be played in necessary in the LA Kings versus Phoenix Coyotes series at 9PM Eastern Time over the NBC Sports Network. Phoenix avoided the 4-0 sweep by winning game four 2-0 at Staples Center. If Phoenix can win game five at home on Tuesday the series returns to LA for an interesting game six.

MLB Network has nationally televised regional coverage beginning at 8PM Eastern Time from Major League Baseball

Most of the nation will get a National League battle as the Philadelphia Phillies open a series against the St Louis Cardinals. Veteran right hander Joe Blanton is scheduled to start for Philadelphia as he will oppose Jake Westbrook for St Louis. Blanton was bombed last time out giving up six earned runs with nine hits and four home runs to the Red Sox. Westbrook allowed two earned runs in 6 1/3rd innings to the Dodgers on Saturday.

The rest of the nation will receive an AL central contest as the Minnesota Twins open a four game set against the Chicago White Sox. Carl Pavano throws for the Twins and the White Sox will counter with Phillip Humber. Pavano held Milwaukee to two runs over six innings on Saturday. After some poor outings following his perfect game Humber has got on track allowing three earned runs total in his past two starts.

LA Lakers at Oklahoma City Thunder NBA Pro Basketball Betting Preview

Monday, May 21st, 2012

The Oklahoma City Thunder will look to close out the LA Lakers when the teams meet for game five of their best of seven NBA playoff series. The Lakers and Thunder will tip from Oklahoma City at 6:30PM Eastern Time and TNT will carry the game over live national television.

Bet the Lakers and Thunder tonight at Oddsmaker sportsbook, where bettors can now claim their 100% Match Bonus at to $1000! Sign up now and get into the excitement of watching and wagering on the pro basketball postseason!

The current odds posted at Oddsmaker has the home team Oklahoma City Thunder -7 1/2 point favorites in game five with the over under lined at 192 ½ points. Bettors wagering on the Oklahoma City Thunder on the money line will take back -385 odds. Those who believe that the LA Lakers can win game five tonight outright can get back +315 odds for their money line wager.

After winning the first two in Oklahoma City the Thunder was able to split the two games in LA to earn a close out opportunity at home in game five. LA has been miserable when facing elimination games with gutless efforts last year at Dallas and when facing elimination a few years ago were blown off the court by the Boston Celtics. In the back end of a back to back in game four the Lakers defense escaped them as Oklahoma City shot 49.4% from the floor in their 103-100 defeat to the Thunder as a +1 ½ point home underdog in another fourth quarter meltdown.

Instead of Kobe Bryant earning goat status as he did in game two this time the blame falls squarely on the shoulder of Pau Gasol who seems to be playing with energy in reserve. With the Summer Olympics upcoming one has to wonder if Gasol is saving himself for his National Team appearance with Spain and not letting it all out for not only this playoff series or for the entire season. Gasol has not involved himself nor engaged in games as we have seen in the years prior during his tenure with LA and even going back to when he was with the Memphis Grizzlies. Possibly with Gasol feeling a little resentment at the Lakers for offering to trade him to New Orleans his attitude changed. It is hard to back LA tonight since the wheels may have come off the wagon defensively.

Miami Heat at Indiana Pacers NBA Pro Basketball Betting Preview

Sunday, May 20th, 2012

The Miami Heat are looking for answers without Chris Bosh as they take the court in a critical game four of their NBA playoff on Sunday afternoon against the Indiana Pacers down 2-1 in this series. The Pacers and Heat will begin from Indiana at 3:30PM Eastern Time and ABC TV provides the live national television broadcast.

Bet the Heat and Pacers today at Oddsmaker, Sportsbook where bettors can now claim their Free $50 NBA Playoff Bet. Sign up today and get into the excitement of watching and wagering during the pro basketball postseason.

The Oddsmaker current odds have the road team Miami Heat favored by -2 points. The over under in this game is lined at 177 ½ points. A money line bet on Miami will return -135 odds. Those who believe the home underdog Indiana Pacers can win game four and go up 3-1 in this series can take back +115 odds for their money line wager.

Miami is in trouble in this series as they lost their most productive big men from their lineup in Chris Bosh and we have seen point totals from the Heat in game two and game three plummet to 75 points in each loss. The issue since the Heat formed the big three was their depth and it is on display right now for Miami and it could mean an early exit for both Dwyane Wade and Lebron James. Miami has got to find an answer to contain both David West and Roy Hibbert. They both combined for 27 boards in game three as Indiana grabbed 16 more rebounds than the Heat on Thursday. Making matters worse for Miami is the fact they will need to help with Lebron and Wade down low and when they do and the Indiana bigs kick out Paul George, George Hill and Danny Granger they are making shots. This has led to a disastrous situation for Miami. The fact is Dexter Pittman, Shane Battier, Joel Anthony and Ronny Turiaf cannot defend the low post effectively enough on their own for Miami. Also they contribute very little offensively putting more strain on Lebron James and Dwyane Wade. Mario Chalmers went 10 of 15 with 25 points and six rebounds in game three for Miami but is he really able to replicate that performance? Hard to argue against those wagering on Indiana on Sunday because a repeat of game three is a likely possibility.
