The Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles the champions of Conference USA a season ago will make the road trip to face the Nebraska Cornhuskers at 3:30PM Eastern Time over ABC TV. Nebraska is favored by -20 ½ points and total is lined at 52 ½ points. Nebraska will run the ball very well this season but the question mark is can quarterback Taylor Martinez improve enough as a thrower to lead the Cornhuskers up the ladder.

At 7PM Eastern Time televised by ESPN it will be an ACC conference versus SEC conference showdown as the Clemson Tigers will face the Auburn Tigers on a neutral playing surface in the Georgia Dome. Clemson is favored by -3 ½ points with the over under in this game at 56 points. Clemson was last seen earning a Sugar Bowl berth last season and allowing 73 points in a loss to West Virginia.

It’s the game of the weekend at 8PM Eastern Time over ABC TV as the defending national champion Alabama Crimson Tide will face the much improved Michigan Wolverines on a neutral field at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington Texas. The Crimson Tide are favored by -13 ½ points with the over under at 47 points. Alabama has lost a lot of players to the NFL. Michigan quarterback Denard Robinson is a year older and a year wiser and will be counted on heavily to keep the Wolverines in this game.

The late night west coast game airing on ESPN at 10:30PM Eastern Time will feature the defending Sun Belt conference champs the Arkansas St Red Wolves traveling to face the defending PAC 12 conference champion Oregon Ducks. Oregon is a -37 point favorite with the total coming in at 69 points. Two spread offenses take the field so expect a lot of fireworks in this one.

The Friday night action gets underway at 7:30PM Eastern Time on ESPNU TV as the Tennessee Volunteers from the SEC conference will lock horns with the North Carolina St Wolfpack representing the ACC conference. At Oddsmaker the Tennessee Volunteers are the -3 ½ point betting favorite with the over under lined at 52 ½ points. This one will be played in a neutral site at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta. The Wolfpack senior quarterback Mike Glennon looks to improve on a solid 2011 season where he completed 62.5% of his passes for 3054 yards and 31 touchdowns. Tennessee is looking to rebound after a bad season where the team finished under .500 at 5-7. Head coach Derek Dooley has 19 of his 22 starters combined on offense and defense back in the 2012 season. Volunteer quarterback Tyler Bray is just a junior and last year for Tennessee threw for 17 touchdowns and 6 picks with an accuracy percentage of 59.5%.

Over on ESPN TV at 8PM Eastern Time it’s the much anticipated matchup involving the Boise St Broncos out of the Mountain West conference on the road facing the Big Ten conference Michigan St Spartans. Michigan St is the -7 point favorite with the over under of 46 ½ points. This will be a new era for the Boise St Broncos as quarterback Kellen Moore has exited the program and is trying to make an NFL roster. Junior quarterback Joe Southwick has huge shoes to fill under center for the Broncos. Boise St must replace their top running back in Doug Martin from their 2011 club. There will be nine new starters in 2012 on the Broncos defense. Michigan St got so close to earning a Rose Bowl berth dropping a three point decision to Wisconsin in the Big Ten title game. Quarterback Kirk Cousins leaves Michigan St as junior Andrew Maxwell will get the start. Maxwell completed 18 of 26 passes last year in mop up duty for 171 yards and touchdown. Le’Veon Bell the Spartans top running back returns in 2012.

The college football action begins at 7PM Eastern Time Thursday and it’s an SEC conference showdown as the South Carolina Gamecocks are on the road to face the Vanderbilt Commodores over ESPN TV. At Oddsmaker the South Carolina Gamecocks are the -7 point road favorite with the total at 45 points.

At 7:30PM Eastern Time the Jim Mora Jr. era of head coaching for UCLA begins as the Bruins are on the road in week one to face the Rice Owls of Conference USA televised live by CBS College Sports. UCLA Bruins are a double digit -16 point favorite in their opener with the total at 56 points.

At 10:15PM Eastern Time head coach Mike Leach makes his coaching debut with Washington St as his Cougars are on the road to face the BYU Cougars to be televised nationally by ESPN. BYU is lined as a -13 point favorite in this battle against a PAC 12 team with the over under at 64 points.

The late night game will kick off at 11PM Eastern Time as the Minnesota Golden Gophers from the Big Ten conference travel to the heat of the desert to face the UNLV Rebels with national television by CBS College Sports. The Golden Gophers are favored by -8 ½ points with the over under coming in at 50 points. This game raises an eyebrow. Minnesota has no business laying a touchdown to anyone on the road. UNLV plays better at home and only gets bullied by the upper echelon teams in their home stadium. The Golden Gophers lost to North Dakota St last year at home. A dreadful New Mexico St Aggies team went into Minnesota last season and won by a touchdown. Two years ago they dropped a home game to South Dakota. Minnesota favored by -8 ½ points. Really?

If you are looking to bet the Texas A&M Aggies and Louisiana Tech Bulldogs on Thursday please note a late schedule change to Saturday October 13th due to Hurricane Isaac.

NFL Pro Football Preseason Sports Betting Match Up Previews for Wednesday

Tuesday, August 28th, 2012

We have finally reached the end of the preseason as there are three week four NFL pro football contests to satisfy the appetite of betting enthusiasts on Wednesday night August 29th. This will be the last chance for bettors to build up those betting bankrolls for the start of the NFL regular season which is just one week away.

Bet the NFL preseason at Oddsmaker sportsbook, where bettors can now claim their Free 100% Match Bonus up to $1000. Sign up today and get into the excitement of watching and wagering on NFL pro football!

Betting the week four preseason games needs a bit more preparation than usual as most head coaches will rest all starters and play their reserves for the entire game. Each team has 75 men on their rosters and they must cut down to 53 players on their active roster by the end of the week. Sharp bettors have taken the time this preseason to pay close attention to the second halves of these preseason games to find good bets for week four. In weeks one through three of the preseason we see reserves play for just about the entire second half.

The action from week four of the NFL preseason gets underway at 7:30PM Eastern Time as the New England Patriots pays a visit to the New York Giants over national television on the NFL Network. The Patriots are -2 point favorites in this exhibition with the over under set at 41 points. New England has yet to cover a pointspread in the preseason and was defeated by Tampa Bay 30-28 last week.

At 7:30PM Eastern Time it will be the Tampa Bay Buccaneers facing an NFC conference opponent as they tackle the Washington Redskins. The home team Washington Redskins is favored by -4 points with the total coming in at 40 points. No Robert Griffin III in this one as he turns it over the Redskins backup quarterbacks for this week four preseason game.

The nightcap of the NFL preseason schedule for Wednesday will kick off at 8:30PM Eastern Time as the Miami Dolphins travels to Dallas to face the Cowboys. Dallas is the -2 ½ point favorite with a total of 37 points. The Cowboys first team defense has looked pretty good in the preseason. Quarterback Tony Romo played well in the victory against the Rams last week passing for 198 yards and two touchdowns.

Carolina Panthers versus New York Jets NFL Pro Football Betting Preview

Sunday, August 26th, 2012

Sunday night football will feature the upstart Carolina Panthers as they travel to the Big Apple to face the struggling offense of the New York Jets from week three preseason play. The Panthers and Jets begin from New York at 8PM Eastern Time and NBC will televise.

Bet the Panthers and Jets NFL preseason game at Oddsmaker sportsbook, where bettors can now claim their Free $10 Sunday Night Football Bet. Sign up today and get into the excitement of watching and wagering on NFL pro football!

The current odds at Oddsmaker has the New York Jets favored by -2 ½ points with an over under lined at 40 ½ points. Those who wager on the Jets on the money line will lay -140 odds. Bettors who prefer the Carolina Panthers side on the money line will get back +120 odds for the team to pull off the victory straight up.

As is custom in the NFL the week three preseason game is referred as the dress rehearsal. Coaches usually play starters into the third quarter to get them ready for playing all four quarters during the regular season which is now just two weeks away. It also makes the last game to evaluate players for the first cuts as teams will trim down from 90 men to 75 man rosters.

Carolina is 1-1 in the preseason. They opened up hosting Houston and were beaten 26-13. Last week Miami Dolphins came to town and the Panthers earned the 23-17 home win and covered the spread as a field goal favorite. The Panthers first string looked outstanding as the team posted a 17-0 lead after one quarter. Second year starter Cam Newton looked impressive hitting on 8 of his 11 passes for 119 yards and a touchdown. Media reports have Panthers wide out Steve Smith sitting out the game.

The Jets were the most hyped team entering camp with the addition of Tim Tebow. This experiment is headed into a disaster as the club has spent valuable practice time with a gimmick player and it has hampered the Jets preparation on the offensive side of the football. The team has pushed across just three field goals in two games. Teams need to be more efficient now in training camp in pads and with too much attention placed on mixing in plays for a backup quarterback they have lost all focus on the basics.

Those betting the money line on the Denver Broncos will lay -125 odds with the take back on the San Francisco 49ers at +105 odds to pull off the upset straight up win. Peyton Manning has completed 2/3rd’s of his passes this preseason for 221 yards but has yet to throw a touchdown and has three interceptions. Manning still looks a bit rusty with his downfield throws as he gets accustomed to new teammates and having missed the entire 2011 season. San Francisco has lived on the ground in the preseason s the club has averaged 189 yards rushing per game and a very good 5.7 yards per rush average.

NBC Sunday Night Football will pit the Carolina Panthers on the road to face the New York Jets with a start time of 8PM Eastern Time. The Jets are favored by -2 ½ points on Sunday Night Football with the over under of 40 ½ points. New York Jets money line odds are set at -145 while the Panthers will return +125 odds to pull out the win straight up. The Jets offense has been atrocious as the team has scored a total of nine points in two games and has yet to score a touchdown. New York averages just 160 yards of offense per game. Panthers second year quarterback Cam Newton is hitting on nearly 59% of his throws in preseason and has a touchdown pass with no picks.

The third week of the NFL preseason is a critical tool for bettors. Most coaches use the third week of the preseason as a dress rehearsal as teams play their starters well into the second half to help build up stamina for the regular season. NFL clubs also set up game plans in the third exhibition game to simulate a prep week for a regular season game.

The NFL action begins at 7:30PM Eastern Time as the New England Patriots pay a visit on a short week to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Patriots are a big number in this one as they are lined at Oddsmaker as a -6 point favorite with the over under of 43 ½ points despite playing on Monday Night Football.

Wednesday, August 22nd, 2012

We are getting closer and closer to the start of the NFL regular season as week three of the preseason is set to get underway on Thursday night with three contests to satisfy the appetite of pro football betting enthusiasts on August 23rd. One game gets the top bill with the Arizona Cardinals facing the Tennessee Titans over national television.

Week three gets started on Thursday at 7:00PM Eastern Time as the Green Bay Packers are on the road to battle the Cincinnati Bengals. Green Bay is the -3 point road favorite in this one with a total of 44 ½ points. The Packers have not been very impressive during the preseason as the club is pushing across just 11 ½ points per game thus far and sit with a record of 0-2 in exhibitions. Aaron Rodgers backup Graham Harrell has not looked good completing on just 52.9% of his passes with a touchdown and two picks. The Bengals are 2-0 in the preseason with wins against the Falcons and Jets.

Kick off at 7:30PM Eastern Time will be the Jacksonville Jaguars taking their act out on their road to Baltimore to face the Ravens in an AFC versus AFC conference battle. The Ravens are a touchdown favorite with the over under coming in at 41 points. Jacksonville has scored a lot of points this preseason and is giving up a lot as well. The Jaguars are averaging nearly 30 points per game and giving up 28 points a contest.

On ESPN TV at 8PM Eastern the Arizona Cardinals make the long road trip to the Deep South to face the Tennessee Titans. The Titans are the field goal favorite with the over under coming in at 41 ½ points. Ironically how both of these teams meet as there are some heated quarterback competitions for both squads. Second year pro Jake Locker has been listed as the starter on Thursday night despite passing for 45.8% completion percentage with no touchdowns and a pick in the preseason Locker needs a good game to hold off Matt Hassellbeck. Over in Arizona the quarterback position is up for grabs. Kevin Kolb is the favorite to take the opening day start for the Cardinals. Kolb has been a disappointment in the exhibitions hitting on just 33.3% of his passes in 47 pass attempts.

Philadelphia Eagles versus New England Patriots NFL Pro Football Betting Preview

Monday, August 20th, 2012

ESPN Monday Night Football will feature Michael Vick and the Philadelphia Eagles paying a visit to Tom Brady and his New England Patriots on August 20. The Eagles and Patriots begin from New England over national television on ESPN at 8PM Eastern Time.

Bet the Eagles and Patriots Monday Night Football at Oddsmaker sportsboook, where bettors can now claim their Free 100% Bonus up to $1000. Sign up today and get into the excitement of watching and wagering on NFL Pro Football.

The current odds at Oddsmaker has the home standing Patriots favored by -1 point and the total is set at 41 ½ points.

The Eagles got a scare last week as starting quarterback Michael Vick left the game with an apparent injury to the thumb of his throwing hand. Fortunately the X-ray showed a mild sprain on his left thumb so Vick gets the healthy start in week two. Due to the ineffectiveness of backup Mike Kafka last week the Eagles will send rookie Nick Foles out of Arizona to be the number two tonight. Foles has a strong arm and looked good in his debut by passing for 144 yards and two touchdowns passes in a 24-23 home win. Veteran Trent Edwards is competing for a roster spot on the Eagles and could see play tonight in the second half. Media reports have Andy Reid playing his starters for all of the first half and possibly into the third quarter tonight. In week one the Eagles will face the Cleveland Browns. Ironically the Browns and Eagles will play next week and with week three of the NFL preseason usually the dress rehearsals. So reports are that the Eagles will treat this week two game with New England as their dress rehearsal.

The Patriots were not too happy about their offensive showing a week ago as the team could score just one touchdown in their 7-6 win against the Saints. The first unit for New England was shut out as the Patriots got into the end zone five minutes into the third quarter. The Patriots generated just 153 passing yards with 126 yards coming from their ground game. Brady saw little work last week as he hit on just 4 of his 7 passes for 30 yards. Backup Brian Hoyer had a touchdown pass but threw for just 45 yards completing 8 of 15 passes. Pressure is on third string quarterback Ryan Mallett who had a bad game last week completing only 8 of 19 passes with an interception.
