Chile punched their ticket into the finals after posing the 2-0 victory to Colombia in the semifinals. This game played in Soldier Field in Chicago saw the Chileans go up 2-0 in the first 11 minutes of the game with goals by Charles Aranguiz in the seventh minute and Jose Pedro Fuenzalida scoring the second goal of the game in the eleventh minute. The teams then had to sit through a 2 ½ hour rain delay at halftime and the playing field was drenched with water. Chile held Colombia scoreless in the second half and advanced to their second consecutive Copa America final. So far in the knockout stages its Chile with a +9 goal differential as they are powered by a 7-0 defeat of Mexico in the quarterfinal round.

Argentina faced the United States in the semifinals from Houston Texas and came away with a dominating effort in a 4-0 victory. The team scored a pair of goals in each of the two halves of play. Gonzalo Higuain for the second straight game scored two goals. Lionel Messi scored on a free kick in one of the prettiest goals of this tournament. The Argentineans outshot Team USA by a 10-0 margin and held possession of the ball 67% of the time. Chile and Argentina met way back in Group D play with Argentina earning the 2-1 victory behind goals by Angel Di Maria and Ever Banega in the second half.
