ESPN Sunday Night Baseball has a first pitch at 8PM Eastern Time with the St Louis Cardinals hosting the Washington Nationals. A good pitching matchup is set as right hander Carlos Martinez is on the mound for the Cardinals to oppose Nationals righty Max Scherzer. It has been a great season for Max Scherzer with a record of 9-6 and ERA of 2.06. Bullpen meltdowns have greatly impacted his record and ERA because they could be a lot better. He has an amazing 151 strikeouts in his 113 2/3rd innings of work on the season. Scherzer has won five of his past seven decisions. It will be Jordan Zimmermann on the hill for Detroit to face Indians right hander Carlos Carrasco. Detroit entered this series with Cleveland at 35-43 as their starting pitching has struggled all season long. Cleveland is 3-0 in Carrasco’s past three starts. The Indians right hander came away with a no decision on Monday as he allowed eight earned runs in 3 1/3rd innings at home to Texas. Cleveland won the game as they put up 15 runs in the victory. Zimmermann is 5-5 on the year with an ERA of 5.53. He allowed five earned runs at San Diego on Sunday as he received a no decision.
