ESPN Sunday Night Baseball is out west as the LA Dodgers host the San Francisco Giants at 8PM Eastern Time. Starting for San Francisco is Matt Cain to oppose Dodgers lefthander Hyun Jin Ryu. Matt Cain has struggled the past five seasons sporting an ERA of 4.00 or greater and pitching what is regarded as a highly friendly pitchers park. His strikeouts have gone way down. On the year Cain sits at 3-9 with an ERA of 5.45. He only went four innings in his last start as he allowed six runs with two earned in a home defeat to Pittsburgh. Matt Cain is winless over his past ten appearances. Ryu 3-6 on the year with an ERA of 4.17. He had been bothered by shoulder problems the past few seasons. He has struggled with velocity but has shown improvement allowing two earned runs over his past four starts.

LA opens up this series with the Giants with a 71-31 mark and incredible 31 games up in the standings over San Francisco. After dropping the first two in their home stand with the Atlanta Braves the Dodgers won the final two with Atlanta then went on to sweep the Minnesota Twins in a three game series scoring six runs in each game.

At 7PM Eastern Time on FOX Sports 1 it will be the Miami Marlins hosting the Cincinnati Reds. On the mound for Cincinnati is Tim Adleman as he will oppose Marlins lefty Adam Conley. Both teams sitting well below .500 as they open this series and way back in the NL Wildcard race. Tim Adleman is 5-8 on the season with an ERA of 5.11. Like many of the Reds starters Adleman sits with a high ERA at 5.11. Cincinnati starters have an ERA of 4.91. Conley is 3-3 with an ERA of 5.62. The Astros are 0-3 in McCullers last three starts and the righthander has an ERA of 7.53 in those games. Bundy has allowed 12 earned runs over his past three starts working a total of 15 innings.

ESPN Sunday Night Baseball has a first pitch of 8PM Eastern Time as the Chicago Cubs will be home to the St Louis Cardinals. Michael Wacha takes the mound for St Louis to opposes Cubs lefty Jose Quintana. The Cubs had won their first six games since coming off the All Star Break to get near even with Milwaukee in the NL Central. Their loss to St Louis in the opener of this series broke the win streak. Wacha is in terrific work as the righthander is 4-0 in his past four starts allowing a total of three earned runs working a total of 26 2/3rd innings. Quintana made his debut with the Cubs on Sunday since being traded from the White Sox. It was a winning debut for the lefthander as he shut out the Baltimore Orioles on the road over seven innings allowing three hits in an 8-0 victory.
