The current odds available for wagering at Oddsmaker, where the bonuses are the best in the business has the defending AFC Champion New England Patriots favored by +260 odds.  New England lost a few of Tom Brady’s weapons in the passing game in Danny Amemdola and Brandin Cooks. Julian Edelman will have to serve a four game suspension. New England signed Eric Decker and drafted a talented rookie in Braxton Berrios out of Miami. New England has great depth in the running back position and added to it in Sony Michel a rookie out of Georgia selected with their second pick in the draft.

Second favorite in the wagering are the Pittsburgh Steelers at +500 odds. Steelers look to shake off the stunning playoff defeat at home to Jacksonville in the divisional round. Jaguars is a team Pittsburgh lost to twice and had difficulty defending in each game. Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is loaded with talent in the passing game and will put up a lot of points. Question is if the Steelers can do a better job defending the run as the Jaguars had the blueprint to exploit them.

The AFC runner up from last season Jacksonville Jaguars bring back +800 odds. Head coach Doug Marrone turned around the Jaguars in one year as they went from a 3-13 regular season to 10-6 and then added two more wins in the playoffs. Blake Bortles must take better job of the football. Running back Leonard Fournette needs to stay healthy.

Phillip Rivers and the LA Chargers return +900 odds. LA Chargers are favored to win the AFC West because many bettors believe Rivers is the best quarterback in the division. Chargers bookend defensive ends in Joey Bosa and Melvin Ingram are the best 1-2 punch in the NFL. They have not run for better than 3.8 yards per carry in the past four seasons and Rivers needs the help of his run game to limit his mistakes.

Notable longshots include the Denver Broncos at +1800 odds and Baltimore Ravens at +2200 odds. Case Keenum was selected in free agency by Denver and the reviews have been positive in training camp. Broncos despite an anemic offense last year held up defensively limiting opponents to 290 yards per game.

Baltimore has missed the playoffs in three straight seasons. It was a miserable week 17 loss at home to Cincinnati where they blew a lead late to cost them a playoff spot. Joe Flacco needs to improve a passing attack that averaged 189 yards per game. Tight end Hayden Hurst was selected in the first round and is greatly needed for this offense that has utilized the tight end with Flacco.
