When you look at the schedule the Tulsa Golden Hurricane faced extremely tough competition. The club suffered losses to Boise St, Oklahoma, Oklahoma St and Houston.

Tulsa concluded regular season play winning 7 of their past 8 games.

The Golden Hurricane has a balanced offense with 249 yards passing and 204 yards on the ground.

They are led by senior quarterback G.J. Kinne who completed 64% of his passes with 25 touchdowns and 12 interceptions.

Kinne is a threat to run with 399 yards on the ground on the year.

The BYU Cougars in their first year as an independent played a very weak schedule on the year.

The team when stepped up in class failed with losses to TCU, Utah and Texas.

They had two lucky wins against Central Florida and Utah St and are very close to being a 7-5 team this season.

It is junior Utah St transfer Riley Nelson under centers for the Cougars. Nelson hit on 61% of his passes on the season with 16 touchdowns and five interceptions.

Buyers beware as Nelson piled up those yards against some dreadful teams. Against his toughest foe in TCU it was Nelson completing just 15 of his 29 plays.

He did not play in the Utah game and was used in mop up duty in the team’s 54-10 loss to the Utah Utes.

The lean here is on Tulsa taking the points. They faced better competition and have a senior quarterback at G.J. Kinne who had a great bowl game last year with three touchdown passes.

Tulsa runs the ball much better behind Ja’Terian Douglas and his 884 rushing yards with 8.2 yards a carry and Trey Watts with 843 rushing yards with 5.7 yards a carry.

They will kick off the Armed Forces Bowl at 12PM Eastern Time on Friday December 30th from Dallas Texas.
