The Atlanta Hawks have dominated the Sacramento Kings with seven straight wins. They meet tonight for the first time this season. This is the third game of a six game road trip for the Hawks. It began with a five point win at Indiana and followed up with two straight losses. They were competitive in a three point defeat at Miami and on Friday lost 86-85 at Detroit laying -2 points as a favorite. Atlanta has been good from the three point line recently with a 39.6% shooting average over their past five games. A distraction for Atlanta recently has come from forward Josh Smith who has publicly requested a trade from the team. Smith is frustrated with the team’s slim chances of playoff success and is looking to play for an NBA championship contender. His performance hasn’t tapered off as he is trying to help his cause to play in another uniform in the next four days by the deadline.

The Kings returned home following a three game road stand with two straight victories. They beat New Orleans by a single point and on Friday Sacramento blew out Dallas by the score of 110-97 as a +1 ½ point underdog. After a sluggish start offensively for the Kings which resulted in head coach Paul Westphall being fired the team has responded to Keith Smart. They Kings have averaged 104 points and 45.3% shooting over their past five games. Center DeMarcus Cousins has shown better development under Smart and has been a solid rebounding big man the past couple of months. Sacramento at home carries a record of 10-6. Their woes have come on the road where they sport a terrible 4-20 straight up mark.
