The scheduled starters for Sunday Night Baseball will be Wei Yin Chen a left hander for Baltimore taking the hill to face veteran lefty Andy Pettitte for the Yankees. Chen has a record this season of 0-1 with an ERA of 3.75. He has worked two games this season for Baltimore all on the road. His first start was on April 3rd and he earned a no decision as the Orioles were beaten by Tampa Bay 8-7 as a +120 underdog. His second start was on Monday and Chen was tagged with the loss as the Orioles fell to the Boston Red Sox 3-1 as a +133 road underdog. Chen worked 6 1/3rd innings and gave up three earned runs along with five hits. Andy Pettitte is a perfect 2-0 in this young season in his first two starts. The New York left hander has an ERA of just 1.20. His opening assignment was on April 4th at home to Boston and Pettitte went a good eight innings where he allowed just one earned run in eight innings as the Yankees defeated Boston 4-2 as a -120 odds favorite. He returned to the hill on Tuesday and was the benefactor of a Yankees hitting explosion as he was given 14 runs by his offense. Despite the cushion Pettitte delivered yet another quality start as he goes a good seven innings and allows one earned run and five hits. Game one of the series was held on Friday night as the Yankees delivered a 5-2 victory to run their record of 5-4 and the Orioles fell to 5-5. It’s a bunched American League East division and only two games in the loss column separates first place from last place after Friday night’s action. The surprise this season has been the offense delivered by the Yankees. Everyone was down on the pinstripes offense this season but they sit in the top four of the league in runs scored and hitting percentage.
