The Bears opened up their 2014 season last week at home hosting the Buffalo Bills and were a touchdown favorite in that game. The team had major defensive issues in 2013 after the firing of head coach Lovie Smith after his team went 10-6 in 2012. Following the firing of Smith many of the Bears defensive players were outraged because winning ten games in the NFL is good achievement and missing the post season is just bad luck because the NFC conference was extremely strong in 2012. As expected there was major regression to the defensive side of the football under new head coach Marc Trestman who is an offensive guru. In the loss last week was saw Buffalo achieve a balanced attacked that included 193 rushing yards on the Bears defense. Last week the Bears had issues with ball security as Jay Cutler throws two picks and the team fumbled one ball away. Some had concern over the 49ers play during the preseason as the offense had a poor showing. The team was driven by their defense in week one as San Francisco earned the 28-17 road victory at Dallas and covering as a -3 ½ point favorite on the road in the process. The 49ers benefitted by four Dallas turnovers and the team jumped out to a 28-3 lead at the halftime break. Colin Kaepernick had two touchdown passes and no picks in the win.
