Villanova shot well in defeat converting on 48.9% overall and 13 of 27 from three. Seton Hall comes off the upset win in the semifinals against Marquette 81-79. Pirates were strong on the glass with seven more rebounds than the Golden Eagles. Seton Hall had a good defensive performance holding Marquette to just 35.6% shooting and 8 of 26 from the three point line. Pirates survived 26 of 44 from the free throw line. Villanova needed overtime to eliminate a pesky Xavier team in the semis 71-67. Wildcats were held to only 41% shooting and 9 of 29 from three. Villanova benefitted from a bad night from the Musketeers from three who converted only 5 of 24 shots.

ACC Championship starts at 8:30PM Eastern Time on ESPN TV from Charlotte North Carolina with Duke Blue Devils facing the Florida St Seminoles. Duke won the first meeting between these schools this season 80-78 on the road. Seminoles gave up a wide open shot for the game winner to the Blue Devils in the win. Duke had a good night from the three point line in the win hitting on 11 of 24. Seminoles shot poorly but were kept in the game by pulling down nine more rebounds than the Blue Devils though did commit 17 turnovers. Duke outlasted North Carolina in the semifinal round 74-73 as a missed open shot by the Tar Heels was the difference as time expired. Blue Devils shot 47.7% in the win but were cold from three going 5 of 20. Florida St pulled off the upset of Virginia in the semifinals 69-59. Florida St against the best defensive team in the ACC shot 56.5% and crushed the Cavaliers on the glass by a 33-18 margin. They held Virginia to only 5 of 24 from three.
