The news from the Connecticut team is the leave of absence from head coach Jim Calhoun due to back problems. The team was mired in a four game losing streak prior to their 69-46 home win to Seton Hall on Saturday as a -8 ½ point favorite. On the road in Big East play the Huskies have three losses and two wins. The victories came at South Florida and Notre Dame. They have a bad loss to a down Tennessee team back on January 21sts 60-57 as a -3 point favorite. The Huskies have struggled from the field during this bad run. They shot 30% at Georgetown and 36.4% in their loss at the Volunteers. Jeremy Lamb leads the Huskies with 17 points a game and 47.7% shooting from the field.

Louisville is riding a four game winning streak as they host Big Monday against Connecticut. Three of those wins came against bottom feeders in the Big East in Rutgers, Seton Hall and Villanova. The Cardinals still play that solid tough Rick Pitino defense as they allow just 37% shooting on the year. The offense has been lacking at time for this Louisville team as the club connects on just 43.8% from the floor which ranks 161st in all of college basketball. A concern for Louisville has been their three point shooting where they make just 31.5% and a poor 278th in all of college basketball. Guard Kyle Kuric leads the Cardinals with a 13 point per game average and 46.4% shooting.

Connecticut is trending to the under as the club has played to under the total in seven of their past eight games. In the head to head meetings between the Huskies and Cardinals the under is 2-0 in the past two games.
