Connecticut had a major scare to begin the NCAA Tournament as they faced St Joseph’s and escaped with the 89-81 overtime victory. Then came wins against Villanova by 12 and in the Sweet 16 the club defeated Iowa St by five points. Connecticut faced Michigan St in the Regional Final and had their bad shooting game as the club made just 17 of their 49 shots. Despite a bad shooting night the Huskies were able to gut out a win against Michigan St 60-54. The Huskies made just 5 of their 22 three point shots. UCONN has two good qualities and they got them through the Michigan St game. The Huskies are one of the best free throw shooting teams in college hoops and the club made 21 of their 22 shots at the charity strip and defended well as they limit the Spartans to just 39.1% shooting. The Connecticut fierce defense forced 16 Michigan St turnovers. Florida is riding a 30 game win streak as they head to the Final Four. All four wins by the number one seeded Gators came by double digits. They held an offensively challenged Pittsburgh Panthers team to just 45 points in the third round. They faced UCLA in the Sweet and the Bruins have faults on defense and the Gators prevailed 79-68. In the Regional Finals the Gators defeated Dayton 62-52. In the Final Four Florida faces a very balanced Connecticut team.
