Both programs have hit hard times of late as they have struggled from the offensive side of the football. Connecticut showed some fight last week as they hosted the Boise St Broncos and fell 38-21 failing to cover as a +14 ½ point wagering underdog. After falling behind by 11 points at the halftime break Connecticut came out with a good third quarter performance as they cut the Boise St deficit to just three points. Unfortunately the Huskies could not score in the fourth quarter and they allowed two Broncos touchdowns to close the game. Under center for the Huskies is senior Chandler Whitmer who is completing just 49.3% of his passes with three touchdowns and two picks. He threw his two picks last week in the loss to Boise St. UCONN has struggled running the football this season as the club averages just 66.7 yards per game rushing ranking 122nd in all of college football. South Florida carries the same record as Connecticut at 1-2 on the year. They have losses to Maryland and NC State this year all at home where they could score no more than 17 points in each contest. Their lone win came in week one against FCS school Western Carolina Catamounts 36-31. The Bulls push across just 300 offensive yards per game ranking 116th in the nation. They have had issues with their passing game as it ranks 116th in the country as well. Quarterback Mike White is a sophomore and is completing just 32.6% of his throws this season with a touchdown and pick. In 2013 the Bulls signal caller hit on 53.1% of his throws with three touchdowns and nine interceptions.
