The series history between these two teams of late shows Broncos domination. Denver has won six straight against the Chiefs. Ironically Denver is 4-0 straight up against the Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium. This year there is some concern about the play of Peyton Manning. The Broncos struggled through a 19-13 home victory against the Baltimore Ravens last week and covering the spread as a -4 ½ point favorite. Denver scored four field goals and one touchdown in their win. Peyton Manning completed 24 of 40 throws in week one for 175 yards and a pick. The issue was the yardage. Manning had trouble completing balls down the field as some of his receivers distanced opposing cornerbacks that nullified long gains. Manning is 39 years old and his arm strength looks to be in decline as there is not as much power on his throws than in his past. Credit the Broncos defense for winning this game. Denver’s Aqib Talib returned a 51 yard interception for a touchdown in the final seconds of the third period for the win. The Kansas City Chiefs were sent to the road to face the Houston Texans in week one. The Chiefs got off to a fast start in their 27-20 road win and cover as a -1 point favorite. KC got off to a 27-9 halftime lead and held on for the win as the Chiefs scored no points in the second half. Alex Smith had a good opening week with three touchdowns passes and no picks.
