The Lakers after going up 3-1 in this opening round series has suddenly found themselves in a seventh and deciding game on Saturday night. After an impressive game four performance in Denver where the Lakers came away with a 92-88 road win most everyone had LA penciled into the next round. What happened are the Lakers defense went south as they allowed Denver nearly 46% shooting in game five and in game six the Nuggets went off for 51.6% from the field as they earned the blowout 113-96 home win. In the past two games the Lakers have not been dominant on the boards as they should be with their size advantage. They had three more rebounds than Denver in game five and lost the rebounding battle to the Nuggets in game six by a 57-51 margin.

As we have said for all of this season the Lakers are simply not asking and demanding enough out of Pau Gasol. He is not been included in the offense enough and like most big men who work hard for position underneath and are not rewarded they mentally tune out. In the playoffs Gasol is averaging just 11 points and eight rebounds per game and worse yet hitting 41.4% from the floor and 63.6% from the free throw line. Now in the most important game of the Lakers season Coach Mike Brown and Kobe Bryant call all out Gasol. Question is will he get the touches he needs?
