The New York Giants opener in Week 1 resulted in a poor offensive showing as the team drops a 19-3 decision at the Dallas Cowboys. They were without their top playmaker in the passing game as Odell Beckham Jr. missed the opener with a sprained ankle and he is listed as questionable for Monday night. Many have speculated that this injury could take 6-8 weeks to heal. Should Beckham be cleared to play one has to wonder just how effective he will be firing out into his pass patterns from the line of scrimmage. It was such a depressing offensive showing for New York as they could only gain 233 yards from their offense. The run game still failed to show improvement as they couldn’t get to 3 yards per carry. The good news for the Giants is their defense kept New York in striking distance as they allowed just one Dallas touchdown the entire game.

The Detroit Lions were underdogs of 2 ½ points in their opener at home to Arizona last week. Detroit came away with the 35-23 victory as they took advantage of Cardinals turnovers in victory. Lions fell behind 10-0 as they were a victim of a huge misstate on offense as a Matthew Stafford pass went for an 82 yards interception return. He made up for that mistake as the veteran quarterback passed for 292 yards and four touchdowns. He executed three red zone drives with three touchdowns. Lions forced four turnovers as they picked off four Carson Palmers passes as they iced the game with a 35 yard interception return with four minutes remaining.
