On a negative note for Miami they did allow Boston to shoot for 52% from the floor as the Celtics tally up 107 on the Heat defense. Former Celtic Ray Allen was the sixth man off the bench for Miami and he logged in 30 minutes and contributed with 19 points on 5 of 7 shooting from the floor. Miami’s other newcomer Rashard Lewis played nearly 19 minutes and contributed with 10 as the veteran hits on 4 of his 5 shots. The Heat did a good job of drawing fouls as they attempt 32 free throws. The New York Knicks had a shot to get the spotlight back on this franchise as it’s competed with the New York Giants and New York Yankees for popularity. The team makes a public relations snafu by failing to resign Jeremy Lin and the Knicks return to the back page in NYC sports.

Game two of the ESPN TV doubleheader begins at 10:30PM Eastern Time as it’s the battle of LA as the LA Lakers will be the home team facing off against Chris Paul and the LA Clippers. The Lakers opening night was a miss for the team as they get beat by a shorthanded Dallas Mavericks team 99-91 as a -8 ½ point favorite. LA misses 12 of 32 free throws. The Clippers welcome a healthy Chris Paul and Blake Griffin to the lineup as the pair faced injury rehab during the summer. New additions for the Clippers in 2012-2013 are Lamar Odom and Jamaal Crawford.
