The Lakers will be on the back end of a back to back when they face the New York Knicks on Friday. They have not been a good road team as the club heading into Thursday’s affair at Boston is just 3-9 straight up on the season. Kobe has called his team slow and old following some of their road defeats this season. The Knicks are facing injury concerns as Carmelo Anthony will miss Friday’s game due to a groin injury suffered Monday night against the Jazz. Amare Stoudemire is scheduled to miss the game due to the death of his brother and is scheduled to be back in the lineup on Monday. Point guard Jeremy Lin out of Harvard has been given a shot with the Knicks and has put in good performances with 28 points and 8 assists on Monday and 25 points and seven assists in extended minutes last Saturday night against New Jersey.

The Oklahoma City Thunder will be in a horrible spot on Friday night against the Utah Jazz. They will be playing the back end of a back to back in altitude and worse yet they will be playing their sixth game in eight nights all with air plane travel. Utah just concluded a three game road trip on Tuesday night against Indiana and will have the luxury of two nights of rest prior to meeting the road weary Oklahoma City Thunder. When you bet the NBA you had better look at the schedule because winners can be found in spot situations. Utah has been a good home team this year with a straight up record of 11-4. In their last home game the Jazz defeated the Lakers by a 96-87 victory as a -2 point favorite. Heading into Thursday night’s game the Thunder has played to seven over the total results in their past eight games. Expect Utah to push the pace to take advantage of an exhausted Thunder team here. Awful spot for OKC.
