Germany was the top team from Group B with three wins all coming by one goal to finish with nine points. Group B was a very difficult group with the Netherlands, Denmark and Portugal. The German defense has been outstanding allowing just two goals total in the European 2012 Championships. Greece was able to advance into the knockout stages as the second place finisher in Group A. They and Russia each had four points but Greece advances based on a head to head 1-0 win on June 16th which was the first tiebreaker in the formula. Despite Russia having a +2 goal differential against the Greeks it will be Greece here and the Russians heading home. In their two other games Greece tied Poland 1-1 and dropped a 2-1 decision to the first place team in Group A in the Czech Republic. Germany went a perfect 10-0 in Euro 2012 qualification. The Germans finished in second place in Euro 2008, were third place finishers in World Cup 2006 and 2010 and were the second place club in World Cup 2002. Greece won this tournament in 2004 and in the 2008 European Championships failed to escape group stages with three losses while being outscored five goals to one. The Greeks managed one win in World Cup 2012 but had two losses that eliminated the squad from the tournament.
