The Houston Texans were a division winner last year despite a terrible start to the year as the team had difficulty deciding on a starting quarterback. They left no doubt in 2016 as the team signed quarterback Brock Osweiler in free agency from the Denver Broncos. Osweiler failed to hold onto the starting job in Denver last year as Peyton Manning returned to the starter’s role for the playoffs. In eight games and seven starts in 2015 the signal caller hit on 61.8% of his throws for 275 yards with 10 touchdowns and 6 picks. Also seeing action for Houston will be veteran Brandon Weeden and Tom Savage. Weeden combined for action in six games and four starts last year for the Cowboys and Texans. He threw for three touchdowns and no picks in his two games played for Houston a season ago. Savage has been around the organization for two seasons and saw limited action in two regular season games as a rookie. Arian Foster has left the Texans but the team signed former Miami Dolphins running back Lamar Miller who ran for 4.5 yards a carry and eight touchdowns a season ago.

The 49ers after a last place finish in the NFC West has hired former Philadelphia Eagles coach Chip Kelly. He needs to turnaround quarterback Colin Kaepernick who came off a poor season in 2016. Veteran Blaine Gabbert is competing for the starting job. He had no success in his three seasons in Jacksonville. He started eight games for the 49ers last year and hit on 63.1% of his throws for 2031 yards with 10 touchdowns and 7 picks.
