New England are defending Super Bowl Champions after their dramatic 34-28 victory in overtime to the Atlanta Falcons. The Patriots were facing a 28-3 deficit in the third quarter and stormed all the way back to force the first ever Super Bowl overtime game. With the win the Patriots finished off the season on a ten game win streak. They suffered two losses. Their home defeat with Tom Brady at quarterback came on a Sunday night home loss to the Seattle Seahawks. Patriots suffered an early season home loss to Buffalo with Brady serving his suspension. New England’s Super Bowl run came about great play on both sides of the football. The team was outstanding on defense as they gave up 327 yards and only 16 points per game. Patriots are going to have to overcome a major injury to one of their playmakers in the passing game as Julian Edleman has been lost for the season with a knee injury. At 40 years old Tom Brady continues to be an elite quarterback in the league. The future is the backup in Jimmy Garoppolo who is patiently waiting his turn at 25 years old as the season begins. The Patriots have a very good 1-2 combination in the backfield in Dion Lewis and James White. Rex Burkhead is an interesting acquisition because he was a workhorse during his college career.

Kansas City were AFC West champions a year ago and earned a bye in the playoffs. It was a disappointing early exit as the Pittsburgh Steelers traveled to KC to eliminate the Chiefs. Because of the poor offensive showing in their playoff loss the Chiefs decided to make a move in the draft and selected Patrick Mahomes with their first pick. KC has been very good on defense the past few seasons.
