This is a huge game with playoff implications. With a win the Chiefs will clinch the AFC West division and be in good position to earn home field advantage throughout the AFC playoffs. Should the Chargers win they would be tied with KC atop the AFC West at 11-3 with two games remaining to be played.

KC won the first meeting between these teams held in LA way back in week one by the score of 38-28. Both teams moved the football with LA generating 541 yards and the Chiefs 362. Kansas City quarterback Patrick Mahomes had an efficient game completing 15 of 27 passes for 256 yards and four touchdowns. Phillip Rivers for LA hit on 34 of 51 for 424 yards with three touchdowns and an interception. KC had 128 return yards in the win including a 91 yard punt return by Tyreek Hill.

Chiefs since their loss at the LA Rams 51-54 has posted a seven point win at Oakland and last week needed overtime to get past the Baltimore Ravens 27-24. KC has been perfect at home with a 6-0 straight up mark. They have beaten the Chargers nine straight including last year at home 30-13 damaging the LA shot of making the postseason.

Chargers since blowing a home game to Denver are on a three game win streak which includes a 33-30 win at Pittsburgh. Team has won nine of ten and some pundits are calling the Chargers the NFL’s most complete team. They are dealing with injuries as running back Melvin Gordon has a sprained knee and his backup Austin Ekeler is doubtful after getting a stinger in the win against Cincinnati last week. It could be a third string running back in the starting lineup on Thursday night.
