After disposing the Denver Nuggets in seven games on a Saturday late night in LA the Lakers were in a bad spot with travel and short rest for their game one with the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Lakers were soundly beaten 119-90 as a +7 ½ point road underdog in game one to fall behind 1-0 in this best of seven series. After getting outscored 39-24 in the third period by OKC the Lakers found themselves down by 30 points.

Oklahoma City offensively had their way with the old Lakers as they shot 53% from the floor in the win with 7 of 17 coming from three. Russell Westbrook had a solid performance with 27 points and nine assists on 10 of 15 coming from the floor. Kevin Durant had a nice game one with 25 points and 50% shooting from the floor. The Thunder took great care of the basketball with just four turnovers in the win. LA made 43.2% in the win but was horrid on defense and will be looking for answers heading into game two. After an inspired Game 7 in the Nuggets series Pau Gasol had just 10 points and seven boards in the loss. Gasol continues to be way too passive on both ends of the court. It was so bad for the Lakers on defense they had 0 fast break points as they could force very little turnovers with poor points on transition. The Lakers must turn this into a half court game because they lack the foot speed to guard OKC.
