The LA Lakers looked nothing like a championship caliber team as they were forced to play seven games in the opening round against the Denver Nuggets. LA had the size advantage down low but did not play smart basketball as they simply neglected to take advantage of their strengths until the game seven. Denver has been a poor defensive team for much of the season. The Lakers shot under 40% from the floor in three of the games which will not bode well as they face a much more efficient Oklahoma City team in the next round. LA will have a quick turnaround here having defeated the Nuggets last Saturday night in their finale. The Lakers great defensive play we saw in the regular season was cracked by Denver as the Nuggets were able to amass 44% from the field or better in four of the seven games.

The Oklahoma City Thunder returns to the court after an 8 day layoff following their sweep of the Dallas Mavericks in four straight games. They last played way back on May 5th as they beat the Mavs in game four 103-97 as a -2 point underdog on the road. They averaged nearly 100 points a game against a pretty good defensive Dallas team. Kevin Durant had a good series against the Mavericks as the All Star averaged 28 points a game with eight rebounds and nearly a 50% shooting percentage. Off the bench James Harden was efficient hitting on 49.1% from the floor in the playoffs. Russell Westbrook at the point guard position is expected to have a monster series as the Laker guards have huge difficulty on the defensive end of the court.
