Tigers ace Max Scherzer is on the mound for Detroit as the right hander opposes fellow right hander Brandon McCarthy of the Yankees. Scherzer is having another outstanding season for Detroit, as the hurler is 13-3 on the year with an ERA of 3.27. McCarthy spent much of the season with the Arizona Diamondbacks before being traded to the Yankees. Overall McCarthy is 6-10 with an ERA of 4.56 on the year. Max Scherzer is 7-1 at home on the year with an ERA of 3.07. It will be McCarthy’s fifth start with the Yankees on Monday. He has allowed just seven earned runs total over his four starts. He is coming off his worst outing for his new team on Tuesday as he gave up four earned runs and nine hits in six innings. McCarthy avoided defeat that day as he his offense tallied up 12 runs in a win against Texas.
