Most of the nation will get the American League battle between the Chicago White Sox and New York Yankees. Scheduled to start for the White Sox will be Jose Quintana and he will likely oppose Adam Warren for the Yankees. Freddy Garcia was announced as the Friday starter on Wednesday afternoon by the Yankee skipper during his press conference as news broke that C.C. Sabathia was headed to the 15 day disabled list with a groin injury. But when Freddy Garcia was used in a relief appearance in Wednesday’s game against the Indians management was then heavily leaning toward the Triple A call up Adam Warren to make the start on Friday. The Yankees starting rotation took another major hit as left hander Andy Pettite was hit with a line drive on Wednesday and suffered a broken ankle that will sideline the veteran hurler for six weeks. Garcia relieved Pettite and thus opening up the opportunity for the minor leaguer to get the start against the White Sox. Quintana has been in very good form as the left hander has allowed just one earned run total over his past three starts working 21 1/3rd innings. In his past eight starts Quintana has given up just six earned runs and carries an ERA this season of 1.25.

Viewers in the Chicago and New York markets will get an AL battle as the Cleveland Indians face the Baltimore Orioles. Veteran Derek Lowe will get the start for the Indians and the Orioles will counter with Jake Arieta. Lowe after a rough outing on the 18th of this month where he allowed the Reds seven earned runs and 11 hits over 5 1/3rd innings gave up three runs in six innings of work against the Houston Astros on Sunday. Jake Arrieta has been roughed up in the 2012 campaign as the right hander carries and ERA of 5.55. He has shown better form lately allowing one earned run in six innings to Washington in his last start and three starts back he gave up one earned run in seven innings to Pittsburgh.
