The action gets underway at 7PM Eastern Time on ESPN TV as the Pittsburgh Pirates will host the LA Dodgers. Pittsburgh will start right hander Gerrit Cole to face Dodgers left hander Clayton Kershaw. As the Dodgers close out a series on Thursday at Philadelphia the team has won five of their past six games as they are getting good pitching in that span. This is an excellent pitching matchup. Clayton Kershaw is flashing that Cy Young form again. In his past six starts he has allowed a total of two earned runs. No earned runs allowed over his past four starts working a total of 34 innings. That’s two complete games and two outings of eight innings pitched. Kershaw has moved his ERA down to 2.37 after being in the 4’s for the first two months of the year. Cole has been sharp by allowing a total of seven earned runs over his past four starts logging 27 innings.

There will be regional action in the late night game. Some areas will receive at 10PM Eastern Time on MLB Network the Oakland Athletics at home to the Houston Astros. The Astros will start left hander Dallas Keuchel as he opposes Athletics right hander Sonny Gray. Houston has won six of the nine meetings against Oakland as they open up a weekend series. Sonny Gray has been tough by allowing three earned runs total over his past three starts working 23 innings.

Some will receive on MLB Network at 10PM Eastern Time the LA Angels at home meeting the Baltimore Orioles. Scheduled to start for Baltimore will be right hander Kevin Gausman as he will face Angels left hander Andrew Heaney. Gausman has had back to back quality starts for the Orioles allowing a total of two earned runs in 14 2/3rd innings pitched. Heaney proved to be a good acquisition for the Angels last off-season as the hurler is 5-1 on the year with an ERA of 1.97. He has won five of his past six decisions.
