The lone game over national television begins at 7PM Eastern Time on MLB Network as the Pittsburgh Pirates will host the LA Dodgers. The Pirates will send right hander Jameson Taillon to the hill to open this weekend series. LA will enter play with a record of 41-33 and having an off day to rest their bullpen on Thursday. They are coming off a successful home stand. After dropping the 8-6 decision to Milwaukee to open it up the team pulled off six consecutive victories. They swept the Washington Nationals to close it out in a three game series winning by a single run in each game. In their 4-3 victory on Wednesday it was LA trailing 3-2 and pushing across two runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to earn the victory. Pittsburgh is struggling mightily. The team dropped two of three to open their four game series with San Francisco for their eighth loss in ten games. Young Jameson Taillon will make his fourth start of the season. He lasted only four innings in his last start at the Cubs by allowing four earned runs with eight hits and three homers in four innings of work.

The late night game begins at 10PM Eastern Time on MLB Extra Innings channel as the Seattle Mariners will host the St Louis Cardinals. Getting the start for St Louis will be right hander Carlos Martinez to open up this interleague series. The Cardinals travel out west on a hot streak. They had a poor five game home stand recently losing three to Texas and two to the Houston Astros. They then traveled to Wrigley Field where the team pulled off the three game series sweep. Seattle will close out a series with Detroit with a day game before making the long plane trip home. Carlos Martinez for St Louis enters play in good form by allowing just four earned runs over his past four starts working a total of 29 1/3rd innings.
