The lone game over national television will begin at 7PM Eastern Time on MLB Network as the Washington Nationals will host the San Francisco Giants. Starting for San Francisco will be right hander Jeff Samardzija. The Giants continue their struggles following the All Star Break as they dropped the first two games on this road trip to the Philadelphia Phillies. San Francisco lost both games with their best on the mound as the club with Madison Bumgarner and Johnny Cueto were on the hill. Following the loss on Wednesday the Giants still holds a two game lead in the loss column over the LA Dodgers. The Nationals will have the day off on Thursday and return home after sweeping three games at the Arizona Diamondbacks. Washington scored 32 runs in the three games at the Diamondbacks. Jeff Samardzija has struggled over his past three starts. He is has allowed a total of 13 earned runs in that span working 16 2/3rd innings with San Francisco losing all three games.

The late night game gets going at 10PM Eastern Time on MLB Extra Innings Channel as the LA Dodgers are home to the Boston Red Sox. Left hander Scott Kazmir takes the mound for the Dodgers. LA prior to the start of this home stand will play three games at Colorado. LA has dropped the first two in the series as the Dodgers pitching staff has allowed a total of 19 runs. Worse was the fact their two starters in that game did not go very deep as McCarthy goes only three innings on Tuesday with Stewart pitching four innings on Wednesday. The Red Sox dropped two of three at Seattle as they conclude this series with a game on Thursday night. Scott Kazmir for the Dodgers is 9-4 on the year with an ERA of 4.41. He had his two game win streak snapped on July 30th at home to Arizona by allowing four earned runs and eight hits over 6 2/3rd innings in a 4-2 defeat.
