On MLB Network at 8:15PM Eastern Time the St Louis Cardinals will host the Chicago Cubs. Starting for St Louis will be righthander Luke Weaver to battle Cubs lefty Mike Montgomery. The Cubs and Cardinals met for a five game series at Wrigley Field right after the All Star Break with Chicago winning three of the five games. St Louis sits at 51-51 after dropping two of three at Cincinnati. They trail the Cubs by nine games in the loss column in the NL Central race. Run production has been an issue for St Louis as well as defense. They have made the most errors of any team in baseball. Chicago ranks second in the league in hitting and fourth in runs scored despite scoring a total of four runs in their first three games against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Mike Montgomery worked in the St Louis series and had a good outing allowing one run and five hits over six innings in a game the bullpen lost. A reliever to start the season the lefthander has stuck in the rotation after the injury to Yu Darvish. Luke Weaver struggled in his last start facing Chicago allowing three runs in four innings. Weaver was in jams giving up seven hits and five walks which adds up to an average of three baserunners per inning.

The late night game gets going at 10:15PM Eastern Time on MLB Extra Innings Channel as the San Francisco Giants are home to the Milwaukee Brewers. On the hill for San Francisco will be Madison Bumgarner to battle Brewers righty Chase Anderson. Milwaukee opens this series after winning two of three against the Washington Nationals. Chase Anderson has taxed the Brewers bullpen this season. He does not go very deep in his games. He worked four innings in his last start facing the Dodgers giving up two runs. But he was in trouble allowing six hits and walking two batters. Madison Bumgarner is 3-3 in nine starts and has an ERA of 3.19. He looks to rebound after a poor start at Oakland tossing four innings giving up three runs and walking six batters.
