The scheduled pitching matchup for Monday has Matt Boyd a left hander for the Tigers squaring off with right hander Johnny Cueto for the Royals. Since moving over from Toronto Boyd has one start for Detroit. It was at home on August 5th against Kansas City where the lefty held the Royals to just one earned run over seven earning and got the win. It will be Cueto’s third start with Kansas City since the trade. He deserved better on August 5th at Detroit where he was tagged with the loss despite allowing just two earned runs over seven innings. Problem is the Tigers couldn’t give Cueto any run support by pushing across just one run all game.

Matt Shoemaker gets the start for the Angels and will face White Sox left hander Chris Sale. The Angels have had their way with the White Sox. LA has won seven of eight games against Chicago. Shoemaker has been outstanding allowing no earned runs in his past two starts against Cleveland and Houston and pitching a combined 13 innings. Sale looks to rebound after two straight awful starts. He gave up seven earned runs in 5 1/3rd to Tampa Bay and in five innings in Boston in back to back starts.

The late night game features the LA Dodgers at home facing the Washington Nationals It will be left hander Gio Gonzalez on the mound for the Nationals to face Dodgers left hander Brett Anderson.
