The Yankees and Rays get things started from Tampa Bay at 7PM Eastern Time and MLB Network has the coast to coast broadcast. The Yankees took a huge blow to their AL Wildcard hopes as the dropped a doubleheader to Baltimore on Friday to open up a four game series on the road. Jake Odorizzi takes the mound for the Rays as the right hander faces Yankees veteran left hander Chris Capuano. Following that doubleheader loss to Baltimore the New York Yankees are now 5 back of Seattle for the final wildcard spot.

Seattle will throw Roenis Elias in Game 1 of this series as he will oppose Matt Shoemaker for the Angels. Through Friday night’s action the Seattle Mariners were in a flat footed tied with the Kansas City Royals for the final AL Wildcard spot with just 16 games remaining to be played. The Angels are sitting nicely with an 11 game lead in the AL West through Friday with 15 games left to be played. If the chips fall correctly the Angels could be looking at clinching at least a playoff spot heading into this game.

Others will get an NL matchup between the Philadelphia Phillies and San Diego Padres. They get underway from San Diego at 10PM Eastern Time. The Phillies will throw veteran right hander Jerome Williams against Padres right hander Andrew Cashner. After a slow start the Padres were climbing towards a .500 record but a recent slide in early September that saw the team lose six straight send them sliding down the standings.
