Some of the nation will get an American League clash as the New York Yankees will hit the road to face the defending AL Champions Detroit Tigers. The scheduled starters for Saturday will be right hander David Phelps taking the mound for the Yankees as he will oppose veteran right hander Max Scherzer for Detroit. In 33 games last year the Yankee hurler went 4-4 with an ERA of 3.34. Scherzer was 16-7 for the Tigers in the 2012 campaign and carries and ERA of 3.74.

An American League West battle will air in some parts of the county as the LA Angels will travel to take on their rivals the Texas Rangers. Former Atlanta Brave Tommy Hanson will make his LA Angels debut on Saturday as the right hander will square off with lefty Matt Harrison for Texas. The Angels right hander was 13-10 in 31 starts for Atlanta in the 2012 year with an ERA of 4.48. Harrison looks to make amends for a poor start on Sunday to the Houston Astros where the Rangers hurler was tagged with the loss by giving up five earned runs and six hits over 5 2/3rd innings against a weak Astros hitting lineup.

Other areas will see a national league playoff rematch from a year ago as the St Louis Cardinals travels out to the Bay Area to face the San Francisco Giants. On the hill for the Cardinals will be Shelby Miller a right hander as he opposes right handed veteran for the Giants in Ryan Vogelsong. The 2009 first round draft pick for St Louis in Miller played in six games in 2012 and finished with an ERA of 1.32 in 13 2/3rd innings of work. The Giants right hander went 7-4 pitching at home last year with an ERA of 2.86 and a low WHIP of 1.20.
