Day baseball is on tap for Major League baseball at 2:20PM Eastern Time on MLB Network as the Chicago Cubs host Cincinnati Reds. Starting for the Reds will be righthander Matt Harvey to battle Cubs righty Tyler Chatwood. It has been a rough year for the Cubs starter. Chatwood is 3-5 with an ERA of 4.54. He comes off a bad start at home to the Minnesota Twins where he allowed seven runs in five innings of work. Tyler Chatwood has struggled with his control this season with a walk rate of 19.4%. His walk rate with the Colorado Rockies in 2017 was 12.2% and it was 10.5% in 2016. With that poor control the Cubs still inserted Chatwood into their starting rotation and his performance has gotten worse. Their offseason decisions were puzzling as Chicago signed Yu Darvish to a long team contract despite his declining numbers on the mound. Darvish is on the DL and his walk rate sits at 11.7% on the season.

Matt Harvey had a poor start to the 2018 campaign with the New York Mets and was traded to Cincinnati. He is 3-0 in his past three starts and has held his opponents to a total of three runs in those games. There are rumors that Matt Harvey may be traded to a contender as his form has greatly improved.

On FOX TV at 7:15PM Eastern Time the LA Angels are home to the LA Dodgers. Starting for the Angels will be Deck McGuire. The LA Angels the past several seasons have been hit hard with injuries to their starting rotation. This season has been no different as the team continues to pull arms in from their minor league teams. Deck McGuire had bounced around the minor leagues since 2011. McGuire spent time in the bullpen this year with the Blue Jays and Angels. LA Angels acquired him in and used him relief until his first start on July 1st where he was pounded by a bad Baltimore Orioles team and took the loss.

LA Dodgers opened their freeway series sitting in first place in the NL West after sweeping the Pittsburgh Pirates in a three game home series to run their win streak to four games. As the weather in Southern California has gotten hot so has the Dodger bats.
