It will be the series finale in an AL contender’s series between the Seattle Mariners and Detroit Tigers. The Mariners and Tigers will get things started from Detroit at 1PM Eastern Time and TBS TV has the coast to coast broadcast.

The scheduled starters for Sunday will be Chris Young a right hander for the Mariners facing Tigers left hander Robbie Ray. Young has a record of 11-6 on the season with an ERA of 3.20 pitching 140 2/3rd innings. He is coming off a good outing at home against Toronto in his last start earning the win and allowing two hits and a run over six innings. Ray spent the early part of the season with the Tigers and has a record of 1-2 with an ERA of 5.31. He was send down to the minor leagues after a bad start on May 22nd where he allowed seven earned runs and nine hits in 3 1/3rd innings. He returned to the Tigers after a success three months in Triple “A” and took a loss to the Pittsburgh Pirates on August 12th giving up four earned runs over five innings.

ESPN Sunday Night Baseball will feature the third and final game of an interleague contender’s series between the Oakland Athletics and Atlanta Braves. The teams begin play from Atlanta at 8PM Eastern Time on ESPN TV. Jon Lester will take the hill for the Athletics as the veteran lefty will face Braves left hander Mike Minor. This will be Lester’s fourth start since being traded to Oakland. He is 3-0 with the A’s and has allowed a total of six earned runs and 18 hits pitching 21 2/3rd innings. Minor has struggled losing three of his past four starts giving up 17 earned runs in 21 1/3rd innings.
