At 2:10PM Eastern Time on MLB Network it will be the Houston Astros at home to the New York Yankees. New York righty Luis Severino gets the start. The New York Yankees have struggled losers of 12 of their past 16 games after their 4-3 road defeat at the Chicago White Sox as they split their four game series entering the weekend. Luis Severino has led the Yankees starters with an ERA of 3.15 and WHIP of 1.07. Severino is coming off a no decision as he held the White Sox to one earned run with six hits and 12 strikeouts over seven innings in a hard luck no decision with the Yankees losing 4-3. He did not allow a walk in that start. His ERA is about a run and a half lower on the road then at home. As Houston opens this series the team is 54-26 after winning two of three at home to Oakland. They have won eight of ten as they face the Yankees on Friday. Astros are third in the league in runs scored and third in Team ERA.

ESPN Sunday Night Baseball has a first pitch at 8PM Eastern Time with the St Louis Cardinals hosting the Washington Nationals. A good pitching matchup is set as right hander Carlos Martinez is on the mound for the Cardinals to oppose Nationals righty Max Scherzer. It has been a great season for Max Scherzer with a record of 9-6 and ERA of 2.06. Bullpen meltdowns have greatly impacted his record and ERA because they could be a lot better. He has an amazing 151 strikeouts in his 113 2/3rd innings of work on the season. Scherzer has won five of his past seven decisions. In the losses, he allowed no earned runs in eight innings and two earned runs in 7 1/3rd innings. Errors ruined a shot at wins in those games. Many consider Carlos Martinez the ace of the Cardinals starting staff. He is 6-4 with an ERA of 2.88. He comes off a no decision as he allowed two earned runs with four hits striking out 10 batters in six innings at Arizona.
