It gets underway at 1:35PM Eastern Time on MLB Network as the Washington Nationals will host the Arizona Diamondbacks. Left hander Robbie Ray is the scheduled starter for the Diamondbacks and for Washington Gio Gonzalez. Washington retuned home this weekend to face the Diamondbacks after a nine game road trip out east. After taking two of three at New York they dropped two of three at LA and San Francisco. They are not generating the offensive firepower from last season but has got good work out of their starting staff. The Nationals bullpen still has been the issue for the team with an ERA well over five. Washington must figure out how to hit left handers as they opened this series with the Diamondbacks hitting .194 against lefty’s.

Arizona has gotten off to a great start to the season. They started fast and as they opened this weekend series in the top spot in the NL West. Arizona is getting the most of their .226 team batting average on offense. They are producing 4.72 runs per game. The pitching staff has been outstanding as the team sits with an ERA under three. Bullpen ERA was at two as this series began.

ESPN Sunday Night Baseball has a first pitch of 8PM Eastern Time as the LA Angels are home to the New York Yankees. Left hander Tyler Skaggs is scheduled to start for the Angels and C.C. Sabathia has his turn in the rotation on Sunday night. The Angels had a poor recent home stand dropping five of six as they hit the road to face Houston. They battled the World Series champ well and took two of three in that series. Still a concern for the Angels has been their offensive production. As they completed their series at Houston the team had been held to two runs or fewer in seven of their past nine games.

New York had a winning ten game home stand to pull their record over .500 as they traveled out west. Yankees are hitting well on the campaign putting up over six runs per game. After a slow start the bullpen has shown improvement during this recent home stand.
