At 2PM Eastern Time on TBS will be the series finale from the key AL Central series between the road side Detroit Tigers who will face the Kansas City Royals. The scheduled starters for the series finale will be right hander Rick Porcello for the Tigers as he will oppose left hander Jeremy Guthrie for the home side Kansas City Royals. As the teams begin this weekend series the Tigers and Royals are tied in the loss column. The second place team in this AL Central race is in contention for two wildcards spots that are up for grabs with Oakland and Seattle in the mix. Porcello has been in good form for the Tigers as the veteran hurler has allowed two earned runs or less in eight of his past ten games. The bad news is the Tigers are just 2-7 in his past nine appearances to the mound as Detroit has given Porcello no run support.

Sunday Night Baseball will feature the Cincinnati Reds concluding their NL Central series against division leader St Louis Cardinals with a first pitch of 8PM Eastern Time televised by ESPN. The Reds send right hander Alfredo Simon as he will oppose right hander Lance Lynn for the Cardinals. The St Louis Cardinals held a 2 ½ game lead over the Pittsburgh Pirates as they entered this weekend series with the Reds. Cincinnati has slumped following the All Star break and has fallen out of contention for a post season berth. Lance Lynn has been simply outstanding during the Cardinals run to the top of the NL Central division. Lynn has allowed one earned run in each of his past three games and in seven of his past ten starts. Run support has been an issue for Lynn as the Cardinals pushed across a total of one run in his past two starts.
