At 1PM Eastern Time on MLB Extra Innings Channel it will be the Washington Nationals hosting the New York Mets. This will be a monster pitching matchup on getaway game as Matt Harvey makes his first start back since Tommy John surgery as he faces Stephen Strasburg. Harvey last saw action way back in August of 2013. In his 2013 campaign Harvey had an ERA of 2.27 in 26 starts. Nationals are experiencing injuries to their everyday lineup most notably Jason Werth who will be out for fifteen days with a shoulder problem.

Two national league west rivals take the field at 6:40PM Eastern Time as the San Diego Padres will host the San Francisco Giants on MLB Extra Innings Channel. The scheduled starters are veteran Tim Hudson for the Giants going up against Ian Kennedy for the Padres. This marks the home opener for the Padres as they show off their much publicized new hitters to their fans. Don’t fall for the nonsense that the Giants can’t win in odd number years. They still have a solid hitting lineup and good starting pitching.

The Boston Red Sox will close out their road series against the Philadelphia Phillies at 7PM Eastern Time on MLB Extra Innings Channel. In the series finale it will be Justin Masterson for Boston going head to head with David Buchanan for the Phillies. The Red Sox have increased their power in their lineup with Hanley Ramirez and Pablo Sandoval acquired in the offseason. Philadelphia is going through a painful rebuilding process.

It will be an AL East division showdown at 7PM Eastern Time on MLB Extra Innings Channel as the New York Yankees will host the Toronto Blue Jays. On the hill for Toronto to close out this series is Daniel Morris a left hander going up against Yankees lefty C.C. Sabathia. The Blue Jays have failed to live up to the high expectations the past two seasons. With their powerful hitting lineup this could be their year. C.C. has lost velocity on his fastball and returns to action after missing much of 2014 due to injury.
