There will be day baseball scheduled for Thursday afternoon as the Kansas City Royals will host the Baltimore Orioles at 2PM Eastern Time on MLB Network. The Royals will start right hander Yordano Ventura as he opposes Orioles right hander Chris Tillman. The Orioles enter play one game under .500 following Tuesday night which was their sixth straight loss. The team is still in reach for a wildcard but must get hot to close out the season. Kansas City is approaching nearly 30 games over .500 entering play on Wednesday. KC is the number two hitting team in baseball and is getting tremendous work from their bullpen. Tillman after a bad start on August 11th at Seattle has pitched well in his past two starts. Yordano Ventura has held his past three opponents to a total of three earned runs in 19 innings pitched.

At 7PM Eastern Time on MLB Network the Washington Nationals will host the San Diego Padres. The Nationals will start Joe Ross to face Padres right hander Andrew Cashner. Because the Dodgers and Giants have underperformed on the year it has positioned the Padres in reach for a division title. Cashner comes off a nice home start against St Louis where he allowed no earned runs over six innings in victory. After poor starts at San Francisco and LA Dodgers that resulted in losses, Joe Ross pitched well on August 22nd holding the Brewers to one run over seven innings in victory.

The late night game goes off at 9:40PM Eastern Time as the Arizona Diamondbacks will host the St Louis on MLB Extra Innings channel. The Diamondbacks start right hander Rubby De La Rosa as he opposes Cardinals righty Carlos Martinez. Arizona is still hanging around for an NL West title as the Giants and Dodgers struggle. De La Rosa has held three of his past four opponents to two runs or fewer. Carlos Martinez has dropped his past two decisions by allowing a total of seven earned runs in 11 1/3rd innings of combined work.
