There will be day baseball as the action gets going at 12:35PM Eastern Time on MLB Network as the Pittsburgh Pirates will host the San Francisco Giants. Starting for Pittsburgh will be right hander Albert Suarez as he will oppose Pirates lefty Jonathon Niese. After their eight game win streak was snapped on Monday, the Giants responded by crushing the Pirates on Tuesday by the score of 15-4 behind 6 2/3rd innings thrown by Johnny Cueto. The veteran right hander has been solid for San Francisco with a record of 11-1 in 109 1/3rd innings with an ERA of 2.06. He allowed just one earned run in the Tuesday night win. Cueto has allowed one earned run or fewer in seven of his past nine starts. Pittsburgh has been trending downward. The team following the loss on Tuesday has dropped eight of their past ten games and is sitting three games under .500. Niese the former Met is in poor form for the Pirates right now. He sits with an ERA of 6.11 over his past three starts working 17 2/3rd innings.

At 7PM Eastern Time on MLB Network the Miami Marlins will be home to battle the Chicago Cubs. Getting the start for Chicago will be veteran left hander Jon Lester as he will battle Miami lefty Wei Yin Chen. The Cubs opened up their three game home series with St Louis with consecutive one run losses. The team still has a double digit lead in the NL Central and is powered behind an outstanding pitching staff. Chicago is number one in the league in Team ERA (2.64) and WHIP (1.06). Their starters have totaled 49 quality starts which are best in the majors. Following their loss to Colorado on Tuesday the Marlins sit three games over .500 which placed them 5 ½ back in the NL East standings behind the Washington Nationals. Jon Lester has been outstanding of late as the lefty has an ERA of 1.29 over his past three starts working 21 innings.
