Most of the nation over the MLB Network will get a National League East affair as the Philadelphia Phillies will play the series finale with the first place Washington Nationals. Scheduled starters will be Cole Hamels for the Phillies as he will oppose Ross Detwiler for the Nationals. It will be interesting to see the Phillies mindset here as Philadelphia traded away Hunter Pence and Shane Victorino to signal the club has surrendered away any hopes for a 2012 postseason berth. Hamels enters play with an 11-5 record and ERA of 3.31 but has been hit the past two starts. The Philadelphia lefty allowed eight earned runs total and 14 hits with 10 walks combined in starts against Atlanta and San Francisco working a total of 12 2/3rd innings. Detwiler has pitched much better at home this season with an ERA of just 2.83 and record of 4-1 in eight starts. In his past two home starts he allowed just one earned run in 14 innings pitched against Atlanta and the New York Mets.

In the Washington and Philadelphia area MLB Network viewers will get action from the NL east as Miami will visit the Atlanta Braves to close out their four game series on Thursday. On the hill for the Marlins will be Nathan Eovaldi as he will go head to head with Mike Minor for the Braves. Eovaldi came to the Marlins from the LA Dodgers via a trade. In his first start with the Marlins Eovaldi pitched well by allowing just one earned run and five hits in 5 1/3rd innings in a 4-2 home win against the San Diego Padres. Atlanta left hander Mike Minor has found good form by giving up four runs total over his past three starts working a total of 21 innings.
