It all gets underway with Day Baseball as the Oakland Athletics will finish off a key series with the Kansas City Royals. Things get started from Kansas City at 2PM Eastern Time and MLB Network has the coast to coast broadcast. The pitching matchup is a good one as right hander Jeff Samardzija will battle fellow right hander James Shields. In Jeff Samardzija’s seven starts with Oakland he has three no decisions, three wins and one loss. Shields has a mark in 2014 of 11-6 with an ERA of 3.25 working 166 1/3rd innings. He is in outstanding form by allowing four earned runs total over his past four starts working 30 innings.

In Prime Time the doubleheader game will feature regional action. Most of the nation will received the Washington Nationals closing out a series against the New York Mets. This contest begins from New York at 7PM Eastern Time on MLB Network. Washington sends right hander Stephen Strasburg to the mound to face right hander Dillon Gee of the Mets. Strasburg looks to bounce back from a terrible outing last Friday and he allowed the light hitting Atlanta Braves to push across seven earned runs and belt four homers against him in five innings. Gee has pitched well over his past two starts allowing one earned run at Philadelphia and two earned runs at home to San Francisco.

Others will receive the Miami Marlins series opener at home against the Arizona Diamondbacks. The teams begin play from Miami at 7PM Eastern Time over MLB Network. Miami throws veteran right hander Brad Penny as he pitches against Diamondbacks right hander Chase Anderson. Penny in his first start in nearly two years went 5 innings and allowed an earned run at Cincinnati to notch a victory. Anderson has been a bright spot for a dismal pitching staff as he enters play with a mark of 7-4 and an ERA of 3.06.
