Day baseball is on the schedule and it gets underway at 1:15PM Eastern Time on MLB Network as the St Louis Cardinals host the Colorado Rockies. Starting for the Cardinals will be Miles Mikolas as he opposes Rockies righty Antonio Senzatela. Colorado is in the battle for the NL West title as their starting pitching has shown improvement. An eyesore right now for the Rockies has been the play of their bullpen which sits with an ERA of 5.12 on the year. Rockies bullpen couldn’t hold a 4-1 lead in the final three innings to the Cardinals in the opener of this series which resulted in a 5-4 defeat. St Louis still sits near .500 since the managerial change. Their bullpen has underperformed, and the team has struggled at the plate with consistency. The Cardinals starting staff has been hit with injuries with Adam Wainwright, Alex Reyes, Michael Wacha and Carlos Martinez are all sitting on the DL. Antonio Senzatela has pitched well at home but poorly on the road in his four starts to the season. Miles Mikolas has been one of the few bright spots on the Cardinals season. He is 11-3 on the season with an ERA of 2.83. He has logged in 130 1/3rd innings on the year.

On MLB Network at 7PM Eastern Time the Boston Red Sox are home to the New York Yankees. Brian Johnson starts for Boston as he opposes Yankees lefty C.C. Sabathia. Boston has been good on their home field with a 38-15 record. After splitting a two game series with the Philadelphia Phillies the Red Sox sat with a three game lead in the loss column on the Yankees in the AL East race. They are the top scoring and hitting team in baseball. Johnson has put up good numbers but has not gotten run support from the Red Sox. He has only gone past the fifth inning once in six starts. C.C. Sabathia has put up worst numbers on the road this season with an ERA of 4.67 in eight starts.
