The tripleheader of baseball begins at 4:15PM Eastern Time on MLB Network as the Kansas City Royals will host the New York Mets. The Royals are scheduled to throw Noah Syndergaard on the hill to oppose Royals veteran righty Chris Young. The teams opened up the season on Sunday night baseball with the Royals earning the 4-3 victory. KC got to Mets ace Matt Harvey for three earned runs and eight hits over 5 2/3rd innings. Edinson Volquez for the Royals pitched six shutout innings while giving up two hits and three walks. First basemen Eric Hosmer had three hits in the opener for KC. New York had just one extra base hit.

At 7PM Eastern Time on MLB Network the Miami Marlins are home to the Detroit Tigers. The Marlins will throw Wei Yin Chen a left hander to oppose Tigers veteran right hander Justin Verlander. The Detroit veteran threw a season worst 133 1/3rd innings due to injury in 2015. He hadn’t pitched fewer than 200 innings since the 2006 season where he threw 186 innings. Verlander had an ERA of 3.38. Chen spent the past four years in Baltimore. A year ago he tossed 191 1/3rd innings with a very good ERA of 3.34. Now he faces a NL lineup on Miami for much of the season.

In late night at 10PM Eastern Time over MLB Network the Oakland Athletics will host the Chicago White Sox. On the hill for the Athletics will be lefty Rich Hill to face White Sox left hander Jose Quintana. The Chicago hurler has had four good seasons with the team. In 2015 the lefty threw 206 1/3rd innings and compiled an ERA of 3.36. The White Sox bullpen has not supported Quintana enough nor has the anemic White Sox bats of the past few seasons. He is record is just 33-34 in four seasons with an ERA near 3 ½ runs. The Athletics moves prior to the 2015 year were bad ones as the team didn’t contend for an AL West title of wildcard berth.
