Chicago comes off a day off on Monday. Cubs have been piling up runs recently. As they close their series at home to Minnesota the Cubs posted nine runs or greater in four of their past five games. It was hot over the weekend in Chicago as the Cubs produced 24 runs in the first two games. Cubs are fourth in MLB in runs scored and second in Team Batting.

At 7PM Eastern Time on MLB Network the New York Yankees are home to the Atlanta Braves. Lefthander Sean Newcomb goes for the Braves. The Yankees open this series after a weekend home series with the Boston Red Sox. New York has played very well at home as the team is 30-12 as they closed out their series with Boston. Yankees have a powerful lineup ranking second in runs scored and best in home runs.

Atlanta has played well on the road this season. Their lineup has put up good offensive numbers ranking fifth in runs and are fourth in the league in team batting. They open up an interleague series with the Yankees after winning a three game series at St Louis. Sean Newcomb is 8-2 on the season with an ERA of 2.71. Over his past ten games Newcomb has given up three earned runs or fewer in nine of those contests.
