It all begins at 2:20PM Eastern Time over MLB Network as the Chicago Cubs will play host to the Colorado Rockies. The Cubs will send left hander Jon Lester to the mound to oppose Rockies right hander Eddie Butler. It is another down season for the Colorado Rockies as they fell to 42-55 after dropping a 9-8 decision in the opener of this series on Monday night. Cubs are very much in the NL Wildcard picture with a 52-46 record following their win on Monday night. Lester for the Cubs has pitched well but is not getting much run support. He has held four of his past five opponents to two earned runs or fewer while pitching at least seven innings each appearance and has only one win to show for. Butler has been hit over his past two outings by allowing nine earned runs, 17 hits along with five walks in 11 1/3rd innings of work.

At 8PM Eastern Time over ESPN TV it’s an AL West division showdown as the Houston Astros will host the LA Angels. The Astros send right hander Lance McCullers to the hill on Wednesday night baseball to face Angels right hander Garrett Richards. The Angels hold a two game lead in the loss column over the Astros as they began this series. In Richards last two starts he has logged 17 innings and given up only three earned runs at home to the Twins and Red Sox. McCullers has held four of his past five opponents to two earned runs or fewer.

The late night game at 10:10PM Eastern Time over MLB Extra Innings channel has the LA Dodgers at home facing the Oakland Athletics in interleague action. Clayton Kershaw a left hander throws for LA to face Oakland right hander Jesse Chavez. Kershaw is flashing that Cy Your Award form of late by allowing two earned runs total over his past five starts working 40 innings. Chavez looks to rebound after a three inning start on July 24th at San Francisco where he gave up four earned runs, eight hits and two walks in defeat.
