Regional action is scheduled at 1PM Eastern Time. Most of the nation will get an AL East contest as the New York Yankees continue their weekend series with the Baltimore Orioles. They begin play from Baltimore with FOX televising. The scheduled starters for this one will feature right hander Shane Greene for the Yankees battling Orioles right hander Miguel Gonzalez. The Yankees are in panic mode as they sit 4 ½ games of Detroit for the final AL Wildcard spot with just 19 games remaining and three other teams ahead of them. Baltimore is coasting home towards and AL East division title and is four games behind the LA Angels for home field advantage in the ALCS.

Others will receive the Atlanta Braves who will continue their push for an NL Wildcard spot as they battle the Texas Rangers. The Braves and Rangers will get things started from Texas at 1PM Eastern Time and FOX has the coast to coast broadcast. It will be Braves right hander Julio Teheran taking the mound for Atlanta as he will oppose Rangers righty Scott Baker. Atlanta has fallen out of the race for an NL East division title but are 1 ½ games behind the Pittsburgh Pirates for the final NL Wildcard berth through Wednesday’s games with just 16 more to play.

At 8PM Eastern Time the San Diego Padres will continue their NL West series as they play the Arizona Diamondbacks over MLB Network. San Diego sends Tyler Ross to the hill to face Diamondbacks right hander Chase Anderson. Too bad for a slow start to the season for the San Diego Padres or they would be amongst the contenders for a wildcard spot in the NL with their good play following the All Star Break.
